The continuing crisis in Ferguson, Mo., has everyone talking about police militarization again. So while were on the topic, have a look at the horrifying video above from Doraville, Ga. The video depicts a SWAT training operation for a downed officer. At least as of this writing, the video was posted on the front page of the Doraville Police Department Web site.
The audio and effects were added by a YouTube user who goes by Patriotsix6. He uploaded the video in 2009. The images at the beginning and end are from The Punisher, the fictional character described by Wikipedia as a vigilante who employs murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence, and torture in his war on crime. The audio is the song Die Motherf-r Die by 'Dope'.
Doraville is a town of about 8,500 people, in the northeast suburbs of Atlanta...

Your family is in a store, a school and there is another Beslan but the police won’t respond because some have complained about them training and looking scary, thus no idea on what to do.
Would you then also complain about them never training for this scenario, and state the police are useless?
The PD didn’t add the graphics or music, the YT poster did...
So glad I don’t live near there.
I caught that right after I posted to you.
They got it off their website real quick, wonder if somebody in the department reads Balko on a regular basis.
It’s not the training. It’s the video of it. This was a roid filled video not a training video.
Police aren’t useless.
It’s paramilitary squads with armored APC’s patrolling 8,500 person small towns - and proudly associating themselves with lawless comic book vigilante justice types that I have a problem with.
The question is why don’t you?
No, they only posted the same version on their department website without thinking about the message they were sending.
Don’t know about you, but I like my cops to be smarter than that.
That a dinky town of 7,500 has an m113 APC.
The militarization of every burg isn’t alarming to you?
The cops didn’t add that to the video though.
Statistically, you're in much greater danger from faux soldier “police” than you are from terrorists.
But, hey, if your fear of despotic Islamofascists makes you believe that adopting their approach to government is the right thing for America, may your chains sit lightly upon you.
Oh what the heck:
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
Funny because those in Beslan I bet were saying the same thing on their first day of school.
You know damn well that if the cops never trained for this situation and your family was in need of help you would be complaining about these cops yet again for not doing anything, or not knowing what to do.
It’s called training. It’s what we did in the military and other agencies do the same thing.
Wasn’t aware of that, thanks for the info.
Yes, a stupid move clearly sending the wrong “message”.
You have no idea what so ever if this situation could happen otherwise you would make this country safe.
No you want to armchair, moan, all drama queen over a unit training to hopefully save lives.
You were a hostage you would be happy to see them , am I right?
can you show me please where this Dept states they shoot through hostages as their ROE?
Nah didn’t think so
They were proudly associating themselves with the graphics and music because that’s the version they posted on their department website.
Until Balko pointed it out in the pages of the WAPO.
And we don’t know how or if the editor of the video has any association with that police department. Maybe he just happened to come across the video and used it and then maybe the department web guy just came across the edited version and used it.
Odds are that it is not a coincidence.
You’re in your garage and an escaped Inland Taipan from the zoo in San Francisco made it into your box of old sweaters. What will you do?
Demand your local hospital spend millions on training, medicine and equipment on treatment of Inland Taipan bites to ensure that if this ever happens you’ll be safe!
FYI, Doraville is right next to Atlanta. I’m pretty sure Atlanta has a SWAT team. I’ve even heard they have a National Guard. You know them, right? They are supposed to be the military force used by the state to take care of foreign invasions, etc. Not LEOs. No, they don’t have the training they need. The feds just want the police to be their standing army. I wonder why.
So the Dept is proudly associated with this, then you state we don’t know if the editor has any association with the cops.
OK
Then you use the words maybe.
