A Georgia high school football program may have God on its side, but not the Constitution, according to critics who say prayer and proselytization have no place in the playbook.
Football coaches at Chestatee High School in Gainesville are accused of quoting scripture on team documents and pre-game banners and regularly leading the War Eagles in prayer in a religious blitz the American Humanist Association (AHA) declares unconstitutional.
Theres really no defense for doing this, AHA attorney Monica Miller told FoxNews.com. Its not even solely student prayer its teachers and coaches praying with students. And we have reason to believe its not an isolated event.
Miller, whose organization sent a letter Tuesday threatening to sue Hall County Schools, said a concerned citizen notified the national nonprofit group that the 1,200-student school in Gainesville, about 55 miles northeast of Atlanta, appeared to be doing an end run around the First Amendment. The letter demanded that coaches cut team-sanctioned prayers and remove all Bible verses and other religious messages from team documents and materials.
The group was particularly outraged that outgoing Head Coach Stan Luttrell joined players as they held hands and prayed.

You can almost lay bets she probably contacted FFRF and was told to do this
THIS is the reason God has lifted His hand of protection from us.
the American Humanist Association (AHA) declares unconstitutional...If they say so, it must be true. Who could really know what the Constitution says?
“A workout log included a citation to Galations 6:9, which reads: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up,” and a banner used for a pregame ceremony alluded to Proverbs 27:17, which reads: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.””
These are simply “motivational” verses but since they come from the Bible, the atheists freak out.
I do pray for the destruction of these atheist groups. And I pray for Christians to stop bowing down to them.
Yeah, I figured God was pretty mad at us when he let Obama take over.
Just like in the Old Testament, when GOD allowed the evil kings to take over for a while whenever the people forsook Him.
To the extent that those coaches are allowed to quote from other sources, written and verbal, and to the extent that they’re permitted to read or recite poetry, speak extemporaneously, use words to excite or inspire, then it is blatant religious discrimination to tell them they cannot quote from religious sources, speak extemporaneously from religious sources, or recite from religious sources.
Blatant discrimination to forbid religious speech but permit all other kinds of speech.
The government should just get entirely out of the ‘speech police’ business, and out of the ‘religion police’ business. When the Founders said Free Exercise and Free Speech, they knew that they knew that it’s a whole lot simpler, cheaper, and freer to just let everyone be themselves and avoid an army of speech police and speech lawyers trying to get everyone to toe the government approved line.
Exactly. I have said from the beginning that Obama is God’s judgment on America.
I was always interested in how they miss "Congress" and confuse schools, football teams, baseball teams, The Boy Scouts (kicking them out of public places due to their prior stances), etc... with "Congress", and how they are able to establish a religion.
What will it take to slap silly these activist judges that ignore the meaning of the Constitution?

It will take all of us asking God for His help and then standing up and REFUSING their interpretation of the Constitution....no matter the consequences!
Why is it that only atheists are allowed to define what is acceptable religious expression through the courts? There is no national church like there is in England therefore any public voluntary religious expression is constitutional.
I’m offend by public expressions of atheism! What about the separation of atheism and state? Will the the courts rule that they are banned from expression in public since they are attempting to enforce atheism on the state and all of it’s citizens?
America was founded because our forefathers refused to do what they were told. I'll be damned if some lib atheist, or their bought and paid for judges, are going to tell me what I can or cannot do!
Oh, the horror!
Panties...wad...you know the drill, darling.
Get a life, sweetie.
Go bake an apple pie or change the baby's diaper, or something.
God doesn’t get mad. God loves unconditionally, and when we screw up, He is sad — FOR us, not BECAUSE of us.
Statistically religious athletes outperform expectations, especially when the odds are long. A non-believer can dispute how the effect works but 1) the hard evidence exists in the real world and is undeniable, and 2) there's only one way to gain that competitive advantage. Libtards are motivated by envy and seek to ban all competitive advantages unavailable to them.
Amen!
You don’t think God judges?
God loves.
Godless hordes hate tradition.
They used to stone these creeps.
God does love and is loving.
He is also just and Holy and He does judge.
He also, scripture says, has wrath and wrath comes from anger.
He also hates, scripture says, dishonest things and sin. This gives rise to anger and wrath, or chastisement.
Yep, He loves, but He’s not a fuzzy happy puppy God, ready to lick you to death. Nope. Not at all.
