The UK on Tuesday threatened to suspend 12 arms export licenses to Israel if the fighting in Gaza starts up again, a day before the current 72-hour ceasefire with the Hamas terrorist organization ends on Wednesday at midnight.
The announcement was made by British Business Secretary Vince Cable, an MP of the Liberal Democratic party. The suspension would affect exports of components for radar systems, fighter jets and tanks, reports the UK's Huffington Post.
Speaking Tuesday, Cable said "the UK Government has not been able to clarify if the export license criteria are being met. In light of that uncertainty, we have taken the decision to suspend these existing export licenses in the event of a resumption of significant hostilities."
There has been talk of tougher British arms export measures to Israel after UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg last Tuesday supported the suspension of arms exports to Israel. The call came after Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, a British minister who was the first Muslim woman to sit in the Cabinet, resigned over the British government's policy on Gaza.
The UK has reportedly exported £42 million ($70.5 million) in arms to Israel since 2010.

This is a blessing in disguise. Israel will, once again, be forced to innovate to survive, and in five years will be exporting to the Brits who are going to need them to exterminate the muzzies they invited into their previously sovereign nation.
And, if I’m right, I hope Israel makes the Brits pay top dollar in gold for their purchases.

Virtually all of those contracts are competitively bid. It’s unlikely they won’t be able to reverse engineer or buy from another EU vendor as they share so much hardware. So, yes, not only have they screwed up their Israeli business but anybody else would have to think twice before dealing with them. The Swiss cancelled a grenade contract because the Brits went into Iraq with us. I’d be shocked if Britain ever bought another thing from the Swiss. Playing politics with your arms sales is very short sighted.

Funny. Someone did lob some rockets at the Brits. Combined between V1/V2 rockets and bombs, 40,000 civilians died in the Battle of Britain.
The Brits responded with nighttime firebombing. They killed more civilians in Hamburg than were killed in the entire Battle of Britain. Eventually, 250-400K German civilians were killed in strategic bombing.
Am I bashing the British for doing it? Nope. It’s war. But when the little weenies then complain about Israel being “disproportionate”, I get pissed. If Israel is committing “war crimes”, then I guess that Winston Churchill and Arthur Harris are war criminals too.
