Left-wing activist Sunsara Taylor said in an Aug. 6 video interview that women make a "great decision" when they get an abortion and that the procedure is a "perfectly responsible choice" that should be available to all women on demand.
"Abortion is not murder," Taylor said on the YouTube station Acronym TV. "It's a perfectly responsible choice for a women to make if you are pregnant and don't want to have a child.
"It's a great decision," Taylor said. "It shouldn't be rare. It should be as common as possible."
The interview was conducted by another left-wing activist Dennis Trainor as a promotion for the ongoing "Abortion Rights Freedom Ride" in Texas by her group "Stop Patriarchy" to protest that state's abortion laws that require doctors who perform the procedure to meet the same medical requirements as doctors who perform other surgeries.
Taylor says on her "Stop Patriarchy" website that she "takes as her foundation the new synthesis on revolution and communism developed by Bob Avakian," the chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.
Trainor says in the video that his YouTube channel is funded by viewers and the Popular Resistance website launched by the Occupy Wall Street protestors. Trainor says in the video he has been "pro-choice" since he "impregnated" his college girlfriend and helped her get an abortion.
When asked by Trainor about the movement by states to enact laws that protect women and their unborn children - in 2013, 22 states enacted 70 abortion laws, according to Guttmacher Institute -- Taylor says "Christian Fascists" are responsible.
"It's sort of a concentrated push in this country on the one side by all-out Christian Fascists who force women back to the status of breeder," Taylor said.
She also said many in the pro-abortion movement have embraced the idea that abortion should be safe, legal and rare - a point Taylor disagrees with.
"There is nothing wrong with abortion," Taylor says. "Fetuses are not babies. Women are not incubators."
"Abortion is not murder," Taylor says. "It's a perfectly responsible choice for a woman to make if you are pregnant and you don't want to have a child."
"It's a great decision," Taylor says. "It shouldn't be rare. It should be as common as it's needed."
The tagline for Taylor's Stop Patriarchy's pro-abortion cause: "Abortion on Demand Without Apologies."
PopularResistance.org seeks to aid in bringing movements for peace, justice, economic fairness and environmental protection together into an independent, nonviolent and diverse movement that can end the power of concentrated wealth, shift power to the people and put human needs before corporate greed.
She has written on the rise of theocracy, wars and repression in the U.S., led in building resistance to these crimes, and contributed to the movement for revolution to put an end to all this. She takes as her foundation the new synthesis on revolution and communism developed by Bob Avakian.
If it's a child (which she acknowledges) then it's murder, she can't have it both ways.

Sick.
“as common as possible”
and
” as common as it’s needed”
Are different endings to seemingly the same quote, or were they different quotes?
Sure have come a long way from “safe, legal, and rare.”
One of the greatest evils this world has created is convincing a people that self genocide is perfectly acceptable behavior. Had an outside force exterminated as many black people as is done in NYC, the world would cry out. Convince a people to kill off 60% of the future generation themselves and it celebrated. It’s just sick.
By her hardness, she is aborting her own life. She is resentful, and where this resentment comes from is unclear, but it is her undoing. It’s very interesting and confusing how people like this woman can criticize others for trying to ‘control her life’, or ‘control women’, but at the same time be supportive of communism, the most ‘controlling’ form of government ever envisioned and experimented with by humanity.
The woman is a callous, cold monster who clearly has a criminal indifference to life.
Those are the usual criteria for convicting murderers.
The only acceptable reason for abortion is if genetic testing indicates that the offspring is a progressive.
I’m OK with birth control. But when it comes to abortion, that is where I draw the line.
If you don't view a baby inside a woman at 8 months as pregnant, then it isn't murder to them.
I just don't understand that. I can understand someone saying that when an egg is fertilized and splits once, that doesn't make it a human being and can discuss that with them, but when you listen to someone like this person, you realize that there are people who take it the other way, and refuse to recognize that a fully developed baby inside a woman's womb IS a human being, well...I just don't know how to have a conversation with that person.
Reading that quote is discouraging, to say the least.
It has gone from being a solemn, heart-wrenching and desperate choice to “hey, it’s okay, we should all do it more often, let’s have an abortion party!”
this woman probably thinks expecting her to use birth control is “oppressive patriarchal tyranny”
“There is nothing wrong with abortion,” Taylor says. “Fetuses are not babies.
HUH? Do these people hear how stupid they sound?
“Im OK with birth control . ...”
What you are OK with is preventing, or avoiding, conception. And that’s quite OK with most folks, including myself. Perhaps I’m overly hung up on semantics, the actual, objective meanings of words. Or not.
