They call it bipolar now. Cobain and Winehouse I think were also bipolar. Leads to impulsive behavior, addictive personality, poor money management, etc.

I suffer from BP1 and PTSD. It is very easy to stand on the sideline and call people who commit suicide selfish. However when you suffer it isnt a normal sadness that goes away or something that pills or therapy or a visit to the church can easily fix. It takes you over, over rides any normal process, your mind can run through a thousand thoughts in a second or get stuck on one thought so bad that it takes your life.

Yeah, but I think manic / depressive is a more accurate description. Despite it being apparently declared as un PC.

My mother was a alcoholic manic / depressive. Not to sound insensitive, but when I was old enough to leave home I swore I would never (voluntarily) deal with that sh1t again. 50 years later I still get a very unpleasant gut reaction when seeing a family photo of an occassion (of which there were MANY) where it turned into a hellish nightmare when she went off. Intellectually I feel sorry for these people, but I put myself as far away as possible from it.
