Why don't you learn about mental illness rather than "JUDGE" those who endure it and sometimes loose their battle with it. It's called Illness for a good reason because there is usually a medical reason behind it doctors may or may not be able to treat nor for that matter properly diagnose.
The medical term Treat is not the same thing as CURE in some cases especially in ones involving more serious illnesses. For many disorders there is no cure only treatment and in some cases it only does so much to help.
What did Jesus do when he encountered ones which today we would consider mental illness? How many times did he condemn them for their behavior or deeds? Not even the one who was so self destructive that he threw himself in the fire was condemned by Christ. But Christ knew the very name of the tormenting disorders {one was likely Schizophrenia aka Legion} and cast them out. Can you cast them out? No? Then stop judging persons who can't cast them out from within them howaboutit.
We all should endure to the end in our belief in and followers of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior which is what the passage meant. Yet we all will leave this earth overcame by some illness will we not?
Mental Illness especially the more serious forms of depression, Schizophrenia, Manic Depression, and even sometimes PTSD, the illness overcomes the patient just as cancer or heart issues do others.
Some are posting it's the cowards way out. Fine lets see them man up and refuse medications when their body is in torment from Cancers etc. Be a man up taking meds is the cowards way out /sarcasm.
GOD will be Robin Williams judge of his eternal soul. How WE judge him is how we will be judged. Only GOD knows Robin Williams abilities of understanding, reasoning, or lack thereof.
In the mean time many are out there hurting teetering on the edge in their pain. They may see no other out. It may be a chronic substance abuser.
Or it could be like the first person I knew to commit suicide. She was a 70 year old motherly woman who was a devout Christian and jumped off a bridge one afternoon ending her life. This was after she had been hospitalized for depression a few weeks earlier back in the early 1970's. She was the church secretary. Why did she do it? No one knows except she had suffered a nervous breakdown a few months before. That breakdown lead to the end of her life. "Father forgive them for they know no what they do". People in their right might usually do not choose to end it without serious {in their eyes} cause.
Rather than posters saying Ticket to hell, Coward, etc, as Christians they should be encouraging persons feeling that deep in despair to PLEASE GET HELP. Talk to someone who can help.
Why don’t you learn about life from our creator?
Illness has a cause, and Yeshua described it in each of his healings, with the same words “Go and ____ no more.”
What was that word?
We must all endure in Faith, and Obedience to his commandments. That is what the subject was when he made that statement.
Loved post #324. I would like to believe some tortured souls I know were welcomed to his kingdom.
Good post.
After reading your in-depth comments, and seeing some of the flaming that has been going on by those who are into the Bible bigtime, it makes me realize no wonder we who are Christians have become so disliked by American society because of such harsh attitudes.
I agree with your sentiments. I pray Robin is in Heaven and that he is in peace, finally.
