The only beef I had with the film was that it was set in 1962, but one of the songs prominently featured was Louie, Louie by the Kingsmen,, from 1963. They should have used the version by Richard Berry & the Pharaohs.

The Richard Berry version was pretty obscure and from 1957, I don’t think it was a hit outside of LA and the Bay area. I don’t think it rocked like the Kingsmen (from Portland) who got their inspiration from the Rockin’ Robin Roberts version, which was a big hit in Seattle in ‘61 or ‘62.
