No one on this thread has tried to excuse the looting. That said, we’ve all seen cases of the police lying to cover up a wrong. We don’t know what happened here yet.
In my CHL class, they stressed to shoot enough times to neutralize the threat and no more. Why was it necessary to shoot Mike Brown ten times? The Ferguson Police Chief has confirmed that he was unarmed and shot “more than a few times.” Multiple eyewitnesses report that he had his hands up in the air. That seems excessive based on currently known information.
I said I understand the anger, not the rioting. As I said to another, if I was as angry as these people, I’d be targeting the cause of the anger, not some nameless store.
There is no doubt that there is a lot of opportunistic looting going on. There is also no doubt there is real anger at another police killing, with a lot of questions to it and very likely a very biased investigation.
Only fools trust cops to properly investigate other cops. Dorner hunt, kid holding a wii, the guy standing still holding a knife... I can give you a lot of examples of ridiculous shootings that were ruled ‘within procedure.’
