Ferguson, Missouri (KMOV.com) What started as a peaceful prayer vigil Saturday evening to remember a young man gunned down by police, has escalated into full scale riots and looting in Ferguson, Missouri.
Angry mobs have smashed windows, set fires and looted businesses as a massive showing of police, some wearing riot gear have moved into the area along West Florissant just south of 270.
Police are also responding to reports of shootings throughout the area. At one point, windows of a News 4 live truck were smashed out by the angry crowd.

“The only witness I have heard was his grandmother, who wasn’t even there when it happened.
She said he was running away. Then she said he was just standing there and put up his hands.
It can’t be both.”

I agree most of the published accounts make it difficult to piece together an idea of what happened.
I did find video of the friend who was with him describing the incident: http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/World/ID/2485993968/
There will be clear evidence at the scene, complete with forensics, GSR, blood, spent casing and on and on...This will be pretty difficult to twist unless the evidence had somehow been manipulated...
Based on the physical evidence alone and conducting a fair investigation independent of the local PD, it should be pretty easy to figure out what occurred and determine if inconsistent statements were made etc...

First, the claim was that there was a struggle over the gun. It is going to be hard to prove such a claim is false. That is the reason cops invented the “He reached for his waist band” excuses. It is very hard to disprove. They know the words to say, and teach each other what to say. It isn’t a myth that cops taught each other long ago to have a throw down weapon, just in case.
Second, you are assuming that anyone investigating is doing a serious investigation, looking for inconsistencies in a story and physical evidence. I’ve had numerous talks with a cop I know at another site. One thing is clear, he is never critical of a cop’s version of events. Not nearly as critical as he would be with you or I.
LE is not interested in honest investigations of cops, least they one day find themselves under investigation. Cops have every incentive to whitewash these events. That makes for a poor investigator.
These investigations need replaced with Citizen based investigative agencies, with out stacking the board with retired cops and family members of cops. It needs to be a real, critical investigation. And with the power to charge. A couple of review boards had members resign, because their findings were just ignored. Others, stacked with ex-cops, defeating the purpose of such a board.
But trusting cops, even from another department, to investigate such events is dubious at best. And Internal Investigation? An oxymoron.
We’ve seen far too many investigations producing ridiculous conclusions. As I’ve said, the cops in the Dorner hunt were not punished for their actions, and the cop who shot a kid holding a wii walked. Nor are those two isolated.
Thanks for the link to the video.
Very ‘entertaining’.
I am sure it happened just the way his ‘friend’ said.
;l )
I understand your concerns...
The real big problem with law enforcement/government now is the escalating widespread distrust of most everything they do or say...The spread of distrust is into most of middle America now too.
The cracks in the foundation continue to spread rapidly...
It’s all been boiling up for a long time.
It’s all very disturbing.
“I cant condone a riot, but i easily understand the anger.
The looters dont look angry to me.”
I’m not going to pretend everyone rioting, and especially looting, cares. But just because some are opportunists, doesn’t change that a lot of people are just mad as hell.
Truth be told, I can’t even understand the riot mindset. If I was that angry, I wouldn’t be attacking some store. I’d wage my war against those who I’m angry at and go Dorner on them.
I said I understand the anger, not the rioting. As I said to another, if I was as angry as these people, I’d be targeting the cause of the anger, not some nameless store.
There is no doubt that there is a lot of opportunistic looting going on. There is also no doubt there is real anger at another police killing, with a lot of questions to it and very likely a very biased investigation.
Only fools trust cops to properly investigate other cops. Dorner hunt, kid holding a wii, the guy standing still holding a knife... I can give you a lot of examples of ridiculous shootings that were ruled ‘within procedure.’
First, I depend on my own skill at following a case from the beginning to form my opinions. The ‘evidence’ it yet to come in this case, so maybe the cop was overreacting, maybe he wasn’t. Maybe the cops have had to yell at the ‘teens’ to get out of the frickin’ street every time they show up. Maybe the ‘teens’ were trying to see how far they could push the cops. Who knows ?
You speak of the tendency of the cops to lie, to cover up and I agree with you. BUT,,, can you just flat make the assumption that they(the police) are lying in this case?
Are you assuming that the ‘residents’ are just bastions of ‘truth’ ?
Remember the Trayvon Martin case where the only evidence that ‘blacks’ needed was that Trayvon was black.
It really seems like both parties to this incident are to blame, and is unfortunate Mr. Brown got killed. Life has taught me not to dick around in front of a police car. Maybe that’s why I’m alive and Mr. Brown is dead.
We all have our opinions of what happened, so now I guess we must await the evidence (and the cell phone videos the cops have) before we can confirm or change our ‘view’.

Very disturbing to say the least. The bedrock of our society is the trust in our election systems, and justice systems.
Trust in both is dying fast, and the results of that can only be tragic.
As for LE? LE has for a long time relied on public good will. From a lot of what is discussed here on FR, where a significant shift of opinion has happened, that good will is used up. Now it is being replaced with distrust, anger, and yes, hate. Not for the concept of LE or law, but hate for what LE has become.
And sorry to say for the cop defenders, but LE only has itself to blame for that distrust. They developed that Blue Line thinking. They invented concepts like the throw down gun, and “He reached for his waistband” excuses. Good, honest, and law abiding citizens don’t learn anger and distrust for cops for no reason.

Crap, maybe your words were prophetic. It is certainly odd that the post number is noteworthy. Your post was 666
Which agency would do the investigation?
Only a fool would think that certain agencies would not conclude a proper investigation
Here it would be the FDLE, maybe Holders racist agency will come in and investigate, what you think they would nto go after this and find the cop guilty.
Lets find out once the investigation is done before judgments like they can’t investigate or the cops were wrong before we pass judgment otherwise we are no better than the thieves, scumbags and rioters .
Anger over a police shooting, tat is pure 100% B/S, if they cared then they would go after black on black every day in this country and the high crime in their neighborhoods.
I’ve got something for them.
I wonder how an officer can let someone even get close to his/her weapon within the police car. Within the car, a suspect and the officer should not be sitting in the same space. Therefore, this statement is a little suspicious to me.
“I wonder how an officer can let someone even get close to his/her weapon within the police car. Within the car, a suspect and the officer should not be sitting in the same space. Therefore, this statement is a little suspicious to me.”
Not the claimed scenario as I understand it. As I understand it, the altercation is claimed to be the kid was forcing the cop back into his car for some reason. He was not, as I understand it, in custody at that time.
It's called "muzzle flash."
I don’t know. Usual practice is to bootstrap on to a local lawyer or seek special permission from court. In this case no special license needed for rabble rousing and grandstanding.
“Reports of an officer down.”
Well that makes more sense than looting businesses. The PD should have hung the officer who shot the kid from a lamp post... Maybe this would have never flared up...
It’s nights like that you’re thankful the AK 47 comes with drums.
