Several GOP 2016 presidential hopefuls made public appearances in Iowa Saturday, including Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz who told conservatives to remain optimistic going into the next election cycle. During a speech at the Iowa state fair, Mr. Cruz told listeners that conservatives would take back the country from President Obama and Democrats, just as they did when Jimmy Carter was president, The Hill reported.
All across this country, people are waking up, Mr. Cruz said. And theyre waking up to bring America back to the principles we have been founded on. There is a better way than the path we are on. ....
It reminds you of a new diet thats really quite popular in Washington these days, Mr. Cruz said after joking about a cow sculpted from butter at the fair. Its called the Obama diet. You just let Putin eat your lunch every day.

Maybe if the vast majority of the American people were more aware of what was really going on, they wouldn't be more motivated to do something about it. Call it spreading fear if you like but until this country wakes up to what Liberals really are and what they're doing, the average American will continue to do nothing.
How does Ted plan to eliminate all the millions of illegals and welfare leeches voting numerous times in numerous polling places with NO requirement for photo ID or any documentation?
Many polling places in many states had over 100% ‘rat votes....more votes than registered voters! and NO ‘R’ votes at all....and NO challenges were permitted. How’s Teddy....or ANYBODY going to overcome THAT with our U.S.Attorney General PROMOTING and protecting it?
We need to know who the enemy is. And while I admire Cruz to an extent and will support him if he is Republican nominee, I question what he was taught (indoctrinated with?) in Harvard Law School. I don't think that Cruz has ever publically referenced Congress's constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers for example.
Does it have to be easy too?"
Who said anything about the job being easy? Note that Cruz's remedy for conservatives to take back control of the federal government is obviously the easiest and best short-term remedy. But then Cruz becomes silent.
Otherwise, I've been posting the same Constitution-related stuff over and over again for years so I know that patriots have been slow to wake up to what's going on.
Give up.
You don't think correctly.
CRUZ: I memorized a shortened mnemonic version. So we go speak at Rotary Clubs and write it all on easels and then speak about it.
WALLACE: Do you have still have a favorite passage that you can recite?
CRUZ: Well, Article I Section 8 which enumerates the power of Congress. The way we memorized it was TCCNCCPCC Pawn momma run. Taxes, credit, commerce, naturalization, coinage, counterfeiting, post office, copyright, courts, piracy, Army, war, Navy, militia, money for militia, Washington, D.C, rules, and necessary and proper.
I love Ted Cruz and I hope he’s right but I don’t see that happening. Its going to take a big reset to get the country back on track. Congress will never reduce the size of government. It will not happen.
That’s the spirit!
I would love to point to the recent times that the GOP has been in charge of both houses of Congress and significantly reduced the size of govt but sadly they have increased it. Why would anyone believe that it will be different this go around? We have gone beyond the ballot box. It happened in Nov 2012.
Mea culpa. Cruz has referenced Congress's constitutional Article I, Section 8-limied powers.
Thanks for the link.
Noting that I couldn't watch the video referenced in the article at the link that you provided because the video has been removed, the problem is that Cruz's cute little memory crutch, the TCCNCCPCC, is dangerously and suspiciously watered down imo, particularly if you're a Harvard Law School graduate.
In fact, when Cruz was trying to stop constituitonally indefensible Obamacare Democratcare with a filibuster, instead of ranting to his colleagues about Democratcare and reading Dr. Seuss, Star Wars to his daughter, why didn't he see how many times that he could repeatedly read Section 8 and indicate that it doesn't say anything about healthcare? Judge Andrew Napolitano read Section 8 and commented about nothing about healthcare in about three minutes.
Judge Napolitano & the Constitution
Remember, I will vote for Cruz for president if he is Republican nominee.
Honestly, the best thing that could happen would be for Ebola to sweep through the major cities of the world and kill 2/3 of the population. This would get rid of a lot of the dead wood that has washed up on the shores of humanity over the last 100 years. The plague paved the way for the Renaissance. Perhaps the world needs another “leveling” event to remind us that there is a greater power at work in the universe and... to thin the field enough for the Good to assert itself once more.
They're correct, but that's only because the RATs defunded it.
No, but China might.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
Cruz referred to the 10th Amendment as the fundamental statement in the Bill of Rights that the powers not given to the federal government are reserved to the states or to the people.
That means, he added, that as the Framers put it, the powers of the federal government are few and defined.
Thanks again Tailgunner Joe.
You've got to remember that liberals will twist anything in the Constituiton to get what they want. That said, I think that the Founding States didn't word the 10th Amendment forcefully enough. PNGAP has more teeth imo.
Also, I'm sorry that freepers don't like that I don't necessarily trust Ted Cruz. In fact, with all due respect to the family and supporters of the late President Reagan, there is evidence that even Reagan was oblivious to Congress's Section 8-limited powers.
For example, while his heart was in the right place, Reagan had signed signed a bill which appropriated funds for things like job training regardless that the states have never delegated to Congress, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to do so.
In other words, Reagan needed to first rally Congress to propose a time-limited job training amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states had ratified Reagan's amendment then Congress would have had the constitutional authority that it needed to appropriate funds for such a purpose and Reagan would have been a greater hero than he already was.
Major legislation signed by President Reagan
Yes, we WILL!
