That sounds like a much better process- I would also prefer that the first primaries went to the reddest (last election) closed primary states.

Well, they don't; necessarily need to be held in the “reddest states” but at the very least, not in places like Iowa, where students and paid stooges drive over from Illinois to “participate in their caucus” and we always wind up with people the liberals would most like to run against (aka losers that don't ever energize the conservative base, again like Dole, McCain or Romney), the same people that promise to never give a hard time to a Democrat candidate!
