District attorney Jack Whelan said: If Dr. Silverman did not have the firearm and did not utilize the firearm, hed be dead today. And other people would be dead. In fact, the doctor had breached the facilitys no firearms policy by carrying a weapon with him to work. The facility released a statement saying that it looked forward to his return to serving patients at our hospital.

I know several psychiatrists and psychologists who carry. They absolutely need to.
Considering the emotional and mental instability of their patients, they ought to be REQUIRED to carry........................

Well I’m sure a lot of their patients are probably liberal whack jobs that are strung out, violent, and mental. They need to carry.
If I perceived my workplace was a place I needed to stay aware of and perhaps defend myself ... the rule of 6-12 stands firm.
This won’t be one psychiatrist who will be taking cases from kids who say...”I see dead people!”
I used to have an oncologist who carried, but he was at a hospital in Pittsburgh that bordered on a nasty area (Hill District).
I worked for a time in psychiatry, dealing with very acute patients. Things got very scary a few times. A colleague at a different hospital in my state was murdered doing the same job. If I did it today I’d certainly carry (wasn’t an option then).
I am sure there was an agonized meeting about it and pressure to fire the guy and maybe sic lawyers on him but there must have been cooler heads that understand what that would do to people’s perception of the psychs’ own sanity.
Trying to convince my oldest she needs to be able to defend herself since she works in the field. (No, not the “field”. :>})

If she doesn’t work in the field who will pick the Arugula for our dear leader?
You left yourself open for a cheeky response...

Notice that the hospital is “welcoming” Dr. Silverman back. They know that the “optics” here are really bad for their position as a “no guns” facility. But rest assured, when the dust has settled, the policy will still be in place thanks to their liberal schmuck lawyers telling them about their “risks” if they openly allow doctors to carry in their facility.
Mind games and playing chicken.
Yeah, I kinda knew it was comin’. :>}
