You’re probably good to go so long as (a) you’re safe from storm surge (which will hit Hilo pretty hard), (b) safe from flooding, and (c) you don’t have a bunch of potential ‘missiles’ in the neighborhood that can readily be thrown around.

It’s a fast mover, so it’ll blow through relatively quickly... probably just below hurricane strength. Shouldn’t be too bad.

The problem with Hawaii is poor home construction. Storms that would not damage a house in the mainland will severely damage homes in Hawaii.If it hits the island, there will be a lot of homeless if the winds go past 70 mph

We’re about 800 feet elevation so not worried about storm surge. We are in the middle of a rainforest though with monster trees all around and large plate glass windows. My biggest concern is a giant tree falling on our house or a missile through the front window.
