McConnell faces toughest test
The Hill ^

Posted on 08/06/2014 8:41:40 AM PDT by TigerClaws

PADUCAH, Ky. — Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) can almost taste becoming Senate majority leader, but first he has to make sure he isn’t the Republican who costs the GOP its shot at chamber control.

His strengths and weaknesses were on full display in his battle against Alison Lundergan Grimes this weekend, underscoring just how tough his race is against the Democrat.

Between now and November, the GOP no matter what crowd will be trying to sell their crap sammiches here on FR. I’m not buying.

Now we’ve got conservatives wanting an Obama lovin’ Clinton hugging abortion backing obamacare supporting democrat.

No, we don't want this, but it has become the LESSER OF TWO EVILS.

Keeping McConnell has become the worse of two evils. He has to go.

Alison will be like Patty Murray or DiFi.

Another permanent female Democrat Senator (unless she eventually gets the VP job someday).

They should have picked a better conservative to back when it made more sense.

I don't care about McConnell winning the Kentucky primary over a weaker opponent. What I care about is the fact he is determined to punch the Tea Party in the Nose, and that he stabbed conservatives in the back in Mississippi.

You keep trying to mislead people that this issue is about the Primary in Kentucky. It is not about the primary in Kentucky. It's about RACIST ATTACK ADS In Mississippi paid for by McConnell and other Senate Republicans.

He is deliberately undermining efforts by those of us who count ourselves as believing in the efforts of the Tea Party to bring excessive government to heel.

He is fighting against us far harder than he has ever fought against Democrats, so we need to turn him into a greasy spot by deliberately throwing the race to his opponent.

He is infected with the Washington disease. He needs to be excised.

At least McC is on our side some of the time AND we need to win the senate.

So you think seeing advertisements like this in other States are worth getting one more Senate vote? (Which isn't even always on our side.)

You do know we may very well lose the Mississippi Senate seat because of McConnell?

If he's costing us Senate Seats, and fighting us every step of the way, how is he any benefit at all?

We must all stick together if we truly want to get things done.

You may want to stick with a guy who's firing a gun into your back, but I would rather have an enemy doing it from the front. He may have cost us the Senate seat in Mississippi with his tampering, and i'm hearing that they are using that Racist attack tactic in Georgia now.

If Mitch does not receive any consequences for his use of this vile and evil tactic, he and everyone else is going to use it again next time to do even more damage to us.

I doubt she will be permanent in Kentucky. Even if this is true, she will do less damage to us than Mitch.

I am not happy he supported fossilized Thad over McDaniel but IF HE KNEW about the filthy tactics that were used in Mississippi, he should be fired. Did he know?

Haley Barbour is a clown-show and I believe he knew. He can kiss my #$% forever.

Vote for the dem in Kentucky. Vote for the dem in Tennessee
Vote for the dem in Mississipp. Vote for the dem in New Hampshire. Vote dem in SC. Vote democratic wherever and whenever the GOP candidate is not as conservative as FR. It’s the conservative thing to do.

The dem in Kentucky is the only one challenging the reason we fail at all in the Senate.

I agree with you on this front. I can’t stand the GOPe. I called the NRSC the morning after that #%&* election in Mississippi to complain to them about the lower than pond scum Dem style tactics they used against McDaniel. They were arrogant to say the least. I have called many reps / senators offices to state my opinions on invasion, bammy care and countless other topics. We’re fighting GOPe and the Dems. Sickening.

It is a tough battle we’re facing, but we all have to do our small part. But to NOT vote is not an option for me, nor is to vote for a candidate that will help the worst of the “evils” to win, is also not an option for me personally.

Right now it’s the Cloward Piven strategy these evil power hungry Dems are using and it’s working to a great extent. Keep the faith.

We fail in the senate because we, conservatives
, are a minority in a minority party. You all have convinced me that the solution is to vote for democrats. I can not ever do that because I swore an oath to defend the constitution from enemies foreign and domestic 40 years ago and I will take that oath to o the grave. The democrat party is the enemy of the constitution. Voting for one would be a treasonous act for me. :-)

We fail in the senate because we, conservatives , are a minority in a minority party.

I direct your attention to the "Gang of 8" which is also a minority. Yet that gang of 8 manages to control what the rest of the Republican Senators do. Do you know how? They vote with the Democrats often enough to make the rest understand that they better cater to that "gang of 8".

This is historically how a small force can leverage it's position. It sits in the middle and decides what is going to happen by throwing it's weight one way or the other.

If we let McConnell get away with what he has done, then we have no weight, and we will never have any. We can take our small weight, and throw it to the Democrat, and the lesson will be grasped. "Piss us off and we will end you."

Vote democrat!

Funny thing, that.

California instituted the party-less primary the last time around. The top two vote-getters, regardless of party, advance to the general election.

In my district, they pitted Pete Stark against a local mayor, both Democrats. There was no Republican on the ballot for the House.

The senile Stark was ousted for a younger Democrat.
