McConnell faces toughest test
The Hill ^

Posted on 08/06/2014 8:41:40 AM PDT by TigerClaws

PADUCAH, Ky. — Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) can almost taste becoming Senate majority leader, but first he has to make sure he isn’t the Republican who costs the GOP its shot at chamber control.

His strengths and weaknesses were on full display in his battle against Alison Lundergan Grimes this weekend, underscoring just how tough his race is against the Democrat.

When I see posts defending McConnell even after he trashed the same voters
he will need to win, I think of someone who really enjoys being dumped on and rained on.

I would prefer a conservative independent to any of them. I just haven’t heard of one running. I am not a bug fan of the republican party either as long as Karl Rove and clowns like that are affiliated.

Behind a lot of what? The story is all about McConnell, and how old he looks against this young Democrat woman.

If McConnell and Cornyn weren’t complicit in the Mississippi election fraud they wouldn’t have to worry about their reelection chances.

If you backstab your base don’t get angry when you lose their support.

republicans in the house and that includes the tea party people, because without the republicans the tea party cannont do anything either.

If the GOP wants the support of the TEA Party perhaps they should quit backstabbing the TEA Party.

I am not a bug fan of the republican party .....

Judging by the manner you attack those who have the audacity to oppose McConnell, I have a hard time believing that.

It's an uphill battle when you beg on your knees and ask a large percentage of Republican not to vote for you.

“I'll give those TEA Partiers a punch in the nose!”

TRANSLATION:

“Please, please don't vote for me. Ask your friends who are Conservative and don't want any RINO’s or “Democrat Lite’s” in office, I implore you not to vote for me!”

Okay. I have no problems with mitch going down. There is no doubt I would prefer for the republicans to have a real leader in the senate. I will, however, be very disappointed if Hussein keeps control of the senate. We certainly won’t be better off if that is the case.

Agreed. Best case scenario is McConnell and Cornyn gone and GOP holding Senate by a narrow majority with a genuine Conservative as Senate Majority Leader.

I wished they had done it in the republican primary. Too bad they had a clown show as his opponent. That should be easy to understand.

I want Thad gone. I want Mitch gone. I want Lamar gone. I want Lindsey gone. I want McLame gone. But I don’t want Obama to have control of the senate his last two years. If you think Obama is lawless now, YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ANYTHING if he’s got control of the senate his last two years. You may trust Obama, but I damn sure don’t.

Boy...... tough crowd. The ONLY two choices last prez election for example were for Romney, whom I wasn’t fond of and would never consider voting for the disgusting fake person in Zippy. Geeeee, what should I do...... what should I do?

Well, being silent or not voting was not an option.

When McConnell votes to support Harry Reid's agenda (which he has, with many cloture votes), I have to wonder if those supporting McConnell aren't socialists.

TOUCHÉ!

We want the same thing.

I am just terrified of Obama having control of the senate his last two years. If you think he’s lawless now, imagine how he would be his last two years if he’s got control of the senate. If he’s got control of the senate, there’s not much the house can do to stop him. That terrifies me.

No, there were more than 2 candidates on my ballot. I didn’t vote for a liberal.

I want to see, and work toward politically destroying liberal republicans.

I am a conservative, not a republican.

With the senate leadership supporting the liberal agenda, there won’t be much difference.

The leadership has supported obama with their cloture votes, and will continue to support obama if they get a majority.

I’m terrified by members of our own party working with the other side. We need new GOP leadership. If that can’t happen we need to burn the party down and rebuild on the ruins.

He already has control of the senate.

If the Republicans take the senate in 2014 how will it play out on the various issues:

Budget/Debt Limit-
They huff and puff, talk trash and then agree to another continuing resolution and raise limit—again. Conservative lose.

Supreme Court Judges-
If one dies or retires, whomever obama nominates will be approved, MaCain and the rest of the ultra liberals have stated as much, he won he gets his picks. Conservatives lose.

Executive Orders-
He will continue to use them without regard to the House or Senate, as they have two options in dealing with them, defund the agencies involved—which the House could do now or impeach, they will do neither, can’t shut down any part of the government why the world would come to an end! Conservatives lose.

The Republicans will re-institute every half-assed crazy and some correct rules in the senate the democrats have removed and tie their own hands effectively making them a majority party that behaves like a minority party. Conservative lose again.

Obama will demand immigration reform and the Republican controlled Congress will give it too him in spite of the majority of their base and the country not wanting it. Result conservatives lose and finally the Republican Party itself will be firmly regulated to minority status in perpetuity.

I really don’t see a Republican Congress doing anything to stop obama, they are cowards for the most part, scared of being labeled racist, child haters, grandma killers etc... by the state run media(hint you will be anyway you damned fools!)

Unless there is a real change of leadership in the GOP, nothing will change and the result will be the Republicans will be blamed for the further decline in the country thus helping Comrade Hillary. I wish it were not true but aside from Ted Cruz there is no push back whatsoever coming out of the Republican party—none.

Hey GOP how about a real choice for a change!

When I see messages about “Removing this RINO” when the only alternative is a Democrat vote for Harry Reid, I wonder if the messenger is really a Democrat.

As near as I can tell, McConnell is a vote for Harry Reid. When has he ever stood up to him?

But that isn't the main point. The main point is that McConnell has vowed to defeat the Tea Party (The only organization in the nation which is actually proposing to shrink the government) and he has put his money where his mouth is. He has provided funding to pay for those racist attack ads which very well may have cost us the Mississippi Senate seat. This is what Mitch McConnell paid for in Mississippi.

As far as i'm concerned, Grimes (The Democrat) is an Enemy, but McConnell is a traitor. I would far rather have an Enemy in front of me than a traitor behind my back.

McConnell has to go, or he will continue attempting to stab the Tea Party in the back. If it costs us another vote for Harry Reid, it is cheaper than the alternative of having people like McConnell undermining our efforts in other elections.
