--snip-- Allen obtained a license-to-carry permit and legally purchased a .380 Bersa Thunder, a gun with two safeties and a trigger lock. She even signed up for lessons at a local gun range.
But she made one mistake: She brought the gun to New Jersey. And now she has a new fear - three to five years in prison.

What about the Constitutional “right to travel”?
Not to mention that little thing called the Second Amendment?

What about the old common law idea that there can be no crime if there is no criminal intent?

With Obama pardoning all the illegal aliens, why can’t a Republican governor ever nullify his states illegal restrictions on self defense by pardoning all weapons charges, and refusing to prosecute citizens for simply pursuing their God-given right to bear arms? Krispy Kreme, I’m talking to you. Also Kasich, and Scott and even Walker.

If Massachusetts’ same-sex marriage law invalidates New Jersey’s ban against same-sex marriage, then South Carolina’s gun access laws should also invalidate New Jersey’s ban against access to firearms.

About time the states create reciprocal gun laws. And you do not have to have the Feds involved.

"The Garden State has some of the nation's strictest gun-control laws. Carry permits are rare, so it's not something that officers hear often during traffic stops. New Jersey doesn't recognize carry permits from any other state, either, something Allen said she didn't realize.
You see...this kind of thing should be prima facie grounds for expulsion of a state from the Union of these here United States.
I mean...it's not like we really need a small, county-sized tract of land called "New Jersey" filled with people people speaking some inscrutable dialect only vaguely resembling English.
I'm sure we could get along quite nicely without it, but what to do with it is proving to be a bit of an issue. Checked with the Canadians, and it's pretty clear they want nothing to do with the place. It's just too liberal for them. We checked with the British to see if they were interested, also, but they said they're now pretty much out of the overseas empire business. We asked the Bangladeshis if they could take New Jersey off our hands. The Bangladeshis said "Thanks, but no thanks...the place is full of people from New Jersey." Next call: the Chinese. ;-)

If the full faith and credit clause can be twisted to force states to accept gay marriage from other states, why can’t it be used to force NJ to accept the carry permit from another state.

Such disclosure is required by law in many States -- including Texas. When asked for your driver's license, it is best to produce both -- with the CHL in front.
TX DPS troopers whom I have asked about this say,
"When folks produce both licenses -- CHL first -- we know we're dealing with one of the 'good guys'. We already know about the CHL -- it comes up on our screen when we 'run' the vehicle tag..."

She wasn't in her state where the CHL was issued. She should have known not to take her gun to NJ. And if she chose to ignore that law, it's best not to tell the cops about it.

If you have internet access
and knowledge of how to use it, there are several reputable websites that provide maps as to where your State's CCW license is reciprocally accepted -- and, more importantly,
where it is NOT accepted.. For example,
"http://www.handgunlaw.us/LicMaps/ccwmap.php" produces this map:
when "Pennsylvania" is checked as your home State. (On the website, "DANGER" States are colored red, not white.)
Such maps are, at least, indications that you should check the law very carefully before you consider transporting any firearm or ammunition into a "red" state.
(From PA, it appears that your only "safe overland escape route" is through WV...)
~~~~~~~~~~~
But, the Second Amendment is a FEDERAL, interstate document -- and SHOULD override any State law. And, nowhere in it does it require that you chieck on the Internet before traveling.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Nonetheless, had this woman checked this website -- and heeded its warning, she could have avoided trouble from "The Armpit of the Universe" (NJ)...
