The Gang of Eight Senate immigration bill (S.744) passed last June would have roughly doubled the number of new foreign workers allowed into the country and legalized millions of illegal immigrants already in the United States. Both Tennessee senators Lamar Alexander (R) and Bob Corker (R) voted for it.

I can never quite understand things. How is it that we have millions of unemployed or under employed, yet the powers that be have decided that we need to import millions of people from other countries to fill jobs that Americans aren’t doing???
MLGW direct hires only black people to work there. They do not work. They sit in trucks. Mexicans do the work.
The jobs they fill will be menial jobs (IF they work) designed to support the ones their very presence created.
Back in the late 80’s, early 90’s I had hispanic employees that were leaving for Tennessee, so I think there has been an influx for quite some time.
The imported millions are to take the place of the millions of aborted babies.
How many US citizens can’t get a job because of immigrants?
All of them apparently.
My daughter has been accepted to a medical lab science program and out of 10 accepted only 3 of them are native born US citizens. I just hope she can get hired after she finishes it since she is blond-haired blue-eyed.
Uh, cheap labor. That’s the reason.
I hope so too. Good luck to her, and she might need to learn Chinese or Hindi to chat with her co-workers
Non-profit labs, government labs, and university labs have enormous latitude to hire foreign graduate students at below market wages for up to six years, and up to 10 years for Defense Department work.
Unfortunately, most of those foreign students are not “elite” graduates from “elite” schools.
They are overwhelmingly students from India, China, Russia, eastern Europe, and poor Muslim countries, and they attended “second tier” universities in the USA.
Almost all of them are chasing Green Cards, which means they will put up with bad pay and long hours.
The truly elite foreign students, the ones at MIT and Stanford, almost always come from western Europe, Japan, the oil rich Middle East, and English language countries.
It's very hard to hold onto them in the USA.
Most of them quickly return to their home country because the pay, and the perks, and the standard of living are identical to the United States.
America's deranged - and deceitful - immigration policies can make life very difficult for home grown citizens like your daughter, unless she is an elite student from an elite university.
Thank you, Alexander and Corker.
Now let’s deport these two establishment losers to Guatemala.
