Why again are US taxpayers paying for this? The IDF can afford something like this.
It’s not like we are not getting anything out of the deal. The funds come right back to the U.S. because they are used to buy American products.
We are getting technology out of it. They developed it from the tech side, and we paid for a lot of the R & D. We also get contracts for our workers and companies.
It is a joint venture. US taxpayers want to support Israel's right to exist, and especially for a defensive anti-missile system that works. The US may need to use it to defend against missile attacks on us or other allies. There is a real and present danger that allows the system to be tested, improved, and retested.
The right question for you to ask is why are other nations not paying for this?
Call me old school, but Hamas and the people of Gaza should be paying for this. Israel, should crush Gaza and extract every single once of wealth (yeah, I know there isn't much, Muslims like to live in filth). The new norm in warfare is going back in history when spoils went to the victor. We should have done it in Iraq and Afghanistan.
As for Ellison, he is the poster child for Muslims in America. Note: I did not write Muslim Americans, because there isn't such a thing. Remember Ellison the next time you encounter a Muslim.
I think the technology was developed by Israel and it is something we want to have and will probably need in the near future. Not necessarily for North America but if I was still a troop overseas in a hot zone I’d sleep a lot better knowing we had an Iron Dome!
So we’re helping with research and development costs and will expect to reap them back to our advantage.
When your base or town doesn’t get ripped to shreds by Islamonuts with missiles you tend to not have to spend so much rebuilding and paying death insurance & benefits out to survivors.
Beta testing technology.
