Things sometimes do get forgotten in confusion. Though if someone is reported alive but unresponsive with a bloody head at the wheel of a car, I might ask “do you think he could have been shot?”

Man 19 minutes is quick here. An hour is good unless they get lost.

As a former dispatcher myself, “man down” is all it should have taken to dispatch the paramedics.

He’s not responsive, so you decide not to send EMS but, a cop?
Well, hopefully he brought his powdered donuts with him so he could mark the body outline.
That is just incompetence.

I did not know this. It makes sense that they would triage and catagorize the level of emergency. If I ever have to help someone like that, I will be sure to state clearly and repeatedly if nec. that someone has just been shot.

Tragic miscommunication.
Is there training/advice on the best way to place a 911 call?
Later info here.

ABC News Chief Legal Affairs Anchor Dan Abrams said the direction of the investigation with police focusing on different places where Markel was seen in the days before the shooting shows that the shooters motive could be anything, from Markels blog to his legal research. Well they used a gun so it must have been those Tea Baggers.

That does it. I’m going to tell everyone I know that if I ever get shot pulling into the driveway, to just drag me to the hospital themselves and that I’ll do the same for them.

The night my dad died, it took the ambulance 39 minutes to get there. He was long gone by then.
This was in Statesboro GA in 1986. They didn't even have 911 set up. We had to look up the phone number of the ambulance service.

That’s part of why we have the right to keep and bear arms. A 44 magnum responds at around 1500 fps. A cop responds in around 10-20 minutes. I can do the math.
