An officer from Los Angeles County took to Twitter on Friday when Facebook users called for help to report that the social media website was down.

Sgt. Burton Brink, the public information officer in La Crescenta, CA, posted a Tweet reminding people about the reasons for calling them for help.

"#Facebook is not a Law Enforcement issue, please don't call us about it being down, we don't know when FB will be back up!" he wrote.

Users who tried to get on Facebook around noon EST were greeted with an apology.

"Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can," the site posted.

A message posted by a Facebook's developer around noon said the site "is currently experiencing an issue that is affecting all API and web surfaces. Our engineers detected the issue quickly and are working to resolve it ASAP. We'll update shortly."

Facebook returned about an hour later.

In my stomping grounds of Tampa FL, we had a weird atmospheric incident a few days before Easter. It caused a halo to form around the sun. People called the cops over it. “Um, the sun is 60 something million miles away. I don’t that’s in my jurisdiction.”

On a side note, I found the halo to be a wonderful evangelism tool. At work, a truck driver asked me what that was. I got all glassy eyed and flamboyant of speech, like a stereotypical southern street preacher.
“Revelations. On the last day, a ring shall form around the Sun and the Earth will burn in fire.”
“What!”
He bought what I was selling, and he wasn’t ready. He thought this was really it. I suspect he attended Easter service.

Can they still call 911 when McDonald’s gets their order wrong?

Imagine if all the Smart Phones stopped working

You know how that would turn out.

They'd be pecking away on them every 2 minutes to see if the service was BACK!

*Ham radio - go to 146.520, the 2 meter hailing frequency then we’ll move off to other, less used frequencies.*

Can Novices use this frequency?

...although it will not matter once the govt becomes completely lawless

No more "novice". Lowest is technician now, if I'm correct, and, yes.
