I’m president of a HOA in an upscale neighborhood, in suburbia America. Been doing it since January. (I know HOA’s are not that well thought of around here). In years past the HOA ruled with an iron fist :) I’ll say this.... you gotta have some serious interpersonal / communication skills. It actually has some pretty good synergy with being a realtor.
Well, maybe. Of course, it’s a two way street. When a condo owner threatened to kick my dog’s head in because I didn’t think his leaving his window open during a hurricane (we were a condo at the beach)was a good idea. I’m through with being a busybody.
I used to live in Beckett, a community in South Jersey with an overbearing HOA. After we moved in 1997, a guy we knew was elected HOA president. He appointed 5 like minded individuals to the board. Their first order of business was to dissolve the HOA.
