When hydrangeas dont bloom (all types of hydrangeas), its almost always due to one or more of the following reasons.
1. You pruned at the wrong time.
2. Your hydrangea isnt getting enough sun.
3. The flower buds were killed by a late winter freeze.
4. Your hydrangea doesnt like where its growing.
5. Your hydrangea hasnt bloomed yet this year, but it will.
Yep, I read because of the cold long winter the wood died and they had to grow back from the ground. Sucks, bet I have only 4-5 with flowers out of 30+ plants.
good thing it is not candle talk, we’d be talkin about cuttin the wick
They should be in bloom or bloomed-out by now; yes. UNLESS, any were fed too much Nitrogen fertilizer (lawn service) and the flower buds went to leaf instead. OR they were cut back in spring and the flower buds were cut off.
Did you or a lawn service ‘deadhead’ any plants this spring? Or apply any fertilizers?
My neighbor next door who has a green thumb said they had a hard winter.
Add a #6: too much Nitrogen fertilizer applied.
Fertilizer formula:
Nitrogen - Phosphorous - Potash
00-00-00 on packages.
Nitrogen = leaf growth,
Phosphorous = roots and flowers,
Potash = stem strength and disease resistance.
I must say, fertilizer chat is more than appropriate on a program that frequently quotes the Muslim in chief.
This year’s buds were set by last fall, so a hard winter could have damaged the buds and they either dropped off, or shriveled-up and leaves pushed out instead.
Your plants were killed back to the ground down there? Wow! The winter was worse than I thought. Everything up here took a beating. Crape myrtles, hydrangeas, rhodies, azaleas, boxwood, ornamental cherries etc etc etc were just beat to crap.
Are the blooms pink or blue?
ditto that !!!!!
Heh; I’d put good compost several levels above that lowlife dirtbag POS-in-Chief, anyday.
Hi, Mags!
we got a drive by post
Mark’s “son of Hamas” interview was very interesting.
Not a drive by post...but a post before eating dinner...I choose not to chew and type at the same time ;-)
?
I ran the furnace for 10mins or so this morning, to take the chill off the place.
Marks son of Hamas interview was very interesting.
Indeed, very en lighting, especially the part about how he was insistent that it is not a political org, even thought he world treats it as so...
is it cool/cold there too ?
