New England Facing Power Shortage This Winter?
IceAgeNow.info ^ | 26JUL2014 | Robert Felix

Posted on 07/27/2014 9:55:02 AM PDT by Jack Hydrazine

“Get ready for the New England power shortage,” reads the headline in The Spectator. “Governors are already meeting in emergency session.”

“In a hell-bent campaign to rid itself of any form of dirty, messy “non-renewable” energy, New England has been closing down coal and oil plants for the last decade,” the article warns. “In 2000, 18 percent of New England’s electricity came from coal and 22 percent from oil. Today it’s 3 percent coal and 1 percent oil. Meanwhile, natural gas — the fuel that everybody loves until you have to drill for it — has risen from 15 percent to a starkly vulnerable 52 percent, just behind California.

“There’s only one problem. New England doesn’t have the pipelines to bring in the gas.”

“If these predictions are correct or nearly correct, looks like the Northeast will have brownouts or possibly blackouts this winter,” says Bill. “My prediction comes from the fact that the EPA has reduced power generation in the Northeast by forcing older coal plants to shut down.

“The natural gas plants only store gas on site. Why? Because environmentalists won’t let pipelines be built. How about power from Canada’s hydro power dams? Those same pesky environmentalists, fight tooth and nail to keep transmission lines from spoiling the scenery.

Environmentalists….they call themselves green because they’re too yellow to admit they’re really reds.”

What does, “Drive Faster/Freeze a Yankee,” in context mean?

Good! Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of Commies. No Heat, No Light, No Firearms, Lots of “Holder’s People,” Lots of Illegals. Hope they get it this winter in “spades.”

Maybe they can get their illegals to cut wood for them...”

Apparently you forgot that, according to the greenies, trees were not meant to be cut down and wood burning stoves and fireplaces cause further pollution and contribute to global warming so they are not allowed any more.

You obviously don’t know about the number of coal-generated power plants that are being shut down on a yearly basis due to EPA regs. Overall generating capacity is dropping.

So what? The only thing that matters is coughing up enough money to pay for the millions of illegals who want to live here, use our schools, and services.

How dare these people complain about coming power outages?

Since zer0 declared a war on coal and closed the plants electric bills have skyrocketed, to find out that he has shut so many down that there will be brown outs is almost laughable.
There are seniors on fixed incomes who will freeze so zer0 can claim clean air. Maybe he will come down with cancer

Most of new england sourced its electricity and heat from coal and fuel oil.

Consequences are a real bitch. Get ready to freeze in the dark this winter.

I would be totally opposed to any natural gas pipelines being ran into new england. Might damage the environment, or something. Same with any new transmission lines. I hear those give you brain damage, or something.

Maybe they can burn all of the corpses of those liberals who bought into the lie, and froze to death for it.

You say I'm heartless, well all of the flaming liberals in the northeast told me I was, so I will just have to live up to it. Remember: consequences.

They have obsessed so much against any “fossil” fuel that even in his last days in office Barney Frank was helping stop the building of a northeast port facility for the receipt of ships hauling LNG, which, all domestic fuel industry considerations aside, would make for a closer source for any northeast pipeline networks than a lot of domestic natural gas.

Yes. They're that dumb.

Natural gas comes from cows, too.

There was a new major pipline planned for New England.

All the upscale houses have signs basically saying, “No Pipeline”.

We have wood-fired heat and hot water, a propane-fired generator to run the water pump, and a couple Aladdin lamps, and live half a mile from the nearest neighbor. Brownouts and blackouts will be an inconvenience, but I think we can survive it. We lose power from snowstorms and such, so I don’t think this will be a lot different for us.

The author, Robert Felix, wrote the book ‘ not by fire but by ice.’ It is an excellent book that looks at historical climate data to debunk global warming.

Surely the northeast can deal with a cold winter by building more solar and winmill power plants.

The EPA’s wood stove/fireplace ban is here; wood-burning water heaters are also under attack in 7 states:

Because of the political leanings of the Northeast, I am not seeing any sort of a problem here, just as long as they freeze in place and don’t attempt to move anywhere else.
