Speaking at a high-level security conference in Aspen, Colorado, outgoing US Defense Intelligence Agency head Michael Flynn warned against the dangers of toppling Hamas, saying what may replace the Islamist group could be even worse.
If Hamas were destroyed and gone, we would probably end up with something much worse. The region would end up with something much worse, Flynn, a lieutenant general, told the conference Saturday, according to Reuters.
He warned that with Hamas out of the picture, the Islamic State, or something like the brutal Islamist group ruling over parts of Syria and Iraq, could take its place.
Flynn also said that he was pessimistic about the Middle Easts future. Is there going to be a peace in the Middle East? Not in my lifetime, he said.
In June, Egypt arrested 15 men it said belonged to the Islamic State as they crossed from Rafah into the Sinai Peninsula. In addition, videos have emerged on YouTube showing masked men pledging allegiance to IS and firing rockets at Israel.
Hamas denies the presence of IS members in the Gaza Strip.
The number of Palestinians killed reached 1,047 in 19 days of fighting, while more than 6,000 wounded, Hamas health officials said. Forty-three Israeli soldiers and three civilians have also been killed.
Not that my opinion matters to Israel, but I’d be willing to risk it.
Fine! Send them to satanallah too!
That is about the only thing I agree with him on. I know a lot of people agree with me. The only good communist/jihadist, is a dead one.
Michael Flynn is partially correct. If we merely remove the evil spirit from the Palestinians and do not heal the wound, seven more even worse may come and occupy the space.. i.e. Putin.
The key here is to remove the evil spirit and heal the wound (Remove Hamas). Then heal the wound. The only way the wound will be healed is to start at the base level with the young and re-educate with peace. Establish law & order first, then establish good schools, and then the healing will follow.
Many great countries were formed by being taken over by force. People were given the opportunity to be educated and grow to be productive. And like teenagers with their parents, the people rebelled against their conqueror and fought for the freedom which they valued.
This is why Iraq failed. You can never take people who are in a dictatorship and give them freedom. You must provide them the opportunity to grow and to want it for themselves. Otherwise you only create an “Animal Farm” scenario. That’s what we have created.
Oh, wait.........
Interestijg blog. Thank you.
Worse than abjectly insane? (Where’s the ‘yeah, right’ girl when you need her??
The US is doing more that endorsing Hamas’s continued rule over Gaza. israel Matzav (http://www.israelmatzav.blogspot.com), which is run by a US corporate attorney who moved to Israel decades ago, is questioning whether Hamas will use a portion of the $47 million that John Kerry pledged for Gaza reconstruction to procure missiles from North Korea.
Everything has changed about this war since late last week. Israel found that Hamas intended to use the terror tunnels to conduct a massive mission against multiple communities on Rosh Hashana, killing, injuring and kidnapping as many people as they could at a time and seizing control of those communities on kne of the holiest days of the Jewish calendar.
Israel’s security cabinet, in a previously unheard-of move, unanimously rejected Kerry’s cease-fire proposal, with unofficial Israeli sources reporting that it matched Hamas’s wish list and would replace Egypt as a monitor with Hamas’s allies Turkey and Qatar.
Even the Palestinian Authority has been complaining about Kerry’s efforts, seeing them as a way to strip authority from that organization and give it to Turkey and Qatar, Hamas’s allies.
A growing consensus is emerging in Israel to continue to expand the operation, occupy Gaza and wipe out Hamas once and for all. The government has not endorsed that position yet, but more people within and without thengovernment are supporting it and there have been no responsoble voices in Israel opposing it.
Meanwhile, sadly, the IDF death toll has been reported at 42 or 43 as of this writing.
A govt security conference in Aspen.
Seriously?
Hudson: Let’s just bug out and call it even! What are we even talking about this for?
Ripley: I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
Hudson: F—kin’ A!
Burke: Hold on a second. This installation has a substantial dollar value attached to it.
Ripley: They can bill me.
Do the Islamonazis EVEN HAVE ANY ENEMIES over here???
ANYBODY willing to fight?

0 is getting worried that his boys will get taken out and a caliphate will not be declared as planned. Soros is not pleased with this news
Is there a connection between the Caliphate and BHO’s Nobel Peace Prize?
So, Hamas is too big to fail, eh? [/s]
How about the possibility of replacing Hamas with something better?
This from the braniacs that presided over the overthrow of dictators in Iraq & Libya to see those overrun with terrorists for those bordering countries to deal with, telling Israel how to manage its affairs.
‘Outgoing’ is good, but he’s only ‘1’...
There’s a lesson in there as well about Russia/Ukraine & US/Mexico, but I’m not getting into it.
