Royce: Putin recruiting ‘every skinhead and malcontent around Russia’

Rep. Ed Royce, California Republican and chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said the United States should try to have productive relations with a Vladimir Putin-led Russia — with qualifications.

“At the same time, we should be pointing out that Putin is using social media right now to recruit every skinhead and malcontent around Russia and get them into eastern Ukraine,” Mr. Royce told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “We know these separatists were taken into Russia to be trained in how to use these SA-11s and they’re poorly trained, so they now shot down a jetliner.” ....

“We should have a long-term strategy and we’d have to change the president’s position on this, but one where we sell [natural gas] for the future into the market in Ukraine in order to replace the Russian gas,” he said.

Every time he votes against amnesty he is saying that he wants the law enforced.

Royce Comments on Pelosi's Amnesty - October 31, 2006 - "Instead of another amnesty, we should make sure that our immigration laws are enforced. Strict enforcement of immigration laws at consulates, at ports of entry, at our border, and in the interior of the United States is one of the most effective means we have of reducing the threat from terrorists."

Rep. Royce Reacts to Reid’s Amnesty Plan - September 15, 2010 - "Amnesty legislation, like the DREAM Act, will only compound the problem, draw more illegal immigrants to this country, and encourage those breaking our laws to continue to disrespect them. We need to focus on enforcing our current immigration laws."

Royce Opposes White House Administrative Amnesty - September 12, 2011 - "Mr. President, our request is simple: enforce our immigration laws evenly without passion, prejudice or preference."

“Every time he votes against amnesty he is saying that he wants the law enforced.”

Yeah and I say that that’s bunk. Politicians are great at making their votes look like they are doing something when they aren’t.

Are you here in Orange County or are you just going to websites and copying his votes? If Ed Royce is as doggone great on the subject as you seem to think then why is it that we never hear a peep out of him?

Illegal immigration isn’t a new problem in California. It has been a huge problem in California for decades. Do you remember Prop 187? Dana Rohrabacher used to speak up once in awhile but I’ve never heard Ed Royce ever bring up illegal immigration as a serious issue needing to be addressed. I don’t remember one word from him when Dubya was trying ram amnesty through.

I’ve seen the do nothing California delegation in operation for too long now. Jeff Sessions doesn’t seem to be at a loss for words on the issue. In fact he’s showing some leadership, something extremely lacking in the majority of the GOP. And I’m certain Alabama doesn’t have a fraction of the illegals that we do in SoCal.

I hope you have read my previous post. Clearly you are wrong. Ed Royce has consistently opposed amnesty, insisted that our immigration laws should be enforced, and voted that way. Ed Royce is a good man and he deserves your vote.

You mean your previous post where you linked to 100% of the comments critical of illegal immigration that Ed has made in his entire Congressional career?

All three of them?

Did you happen to notice that Ed never mentioned the ‘D’ word even once? You know, Deportation. Something Eisenhower managed to not only mention but to put into practice when he was President?

I’ve called ‘good man’ Ed’s staffers on occasion and asked them if in fact deportation is still the law of the United States, since I never see it being enforced and I certainly never hear the hacks that we elect ever speak the word. It never occurs to them to talk about it despite the fact that they take an oath stating that they will see that our laws are enforced.

I guess they think that means “all the laws that our Party leadership decides are convenient”. And we know that Boehner and the other hacks in GOP leadership have no intention of deporting the very people that they intend to “regularize”, or whatever they are calling amnesty these days when they lie to us.

BTW you didn’t answer my question regarding whether or not you live here in SoCal, where for far too many years we have had to put up with Congressman have behave as if they haven’t the faintest idea that the cities of southern California are are becoming colonies of Mexico and Central America.

So opposing amnesty is not enough. You say you want to hear him say that our law should be enforced. But when I show that he has repeatedly done so, now that’s not enough. I’m pretty sure nothing would be enough for you. Even though he’s never voted for amnesty, you’re sure he will, for some reason. His 100% voting record on immigration issues does not sway you. I guess he needs 200% to make you happy.

So because a group of advocates for illegal immigration amnesty demonstrate in front of Royce’s office you think that means that he is good on the issue?

Did you notice that they didn’t complain that Ed wants our laws enforced so that they and their criminal family members are deported?

No, they just complained that he is “hiding behind excuses” and insufficiently kowtowing to their demands that he make their blatant lawbreaking legal.

‘”I am getting arrested today to tell Representative Ed Royce that he has an obligation to stop hiding behind excuses and publicly support legislation that brings millions of aspiring Americans out of shadows and stop tearing apart families,” explained Hee Joo Yoon, executive director of the Korean Resource Center.’

Get back to me when Ed calls up the INS, or ICE or whatever it’s called now, and demands that these alien border trespassers get kicked out of the country like they deserve.

Of course opposing amnesty is not enough. He didn’t take an oath to simply oppose subverting the law, and subverting the law is exactly what amnesty is. He took an oath to defend the laws and see that they are enforced.

” But when I show that he has repeatedly done so, now that’s not enough. I’m pretty sure nothing would be enough for you. “

Good grief are you ever naive. Ed has never, ever made illegal immigration a big issue. Those of us in SoCal who have been trying to get illegals booted since Prop 187 in 1994 know perfectly well who has been helping and who hasn’t. And Ed hasn’t.

If all it takes is three throw away quotes to fool you then you deserve to be made a fool. Go look at Royce’s ‘Issues’ page on his House website and tell me where Illegal Immigration appears on his personal list of important issues. I’ll spare you the effort, it doesn’t appear at all. Odd isn’t it since southern California has been massively impacted for decades. If you lived in his district as I do you would know that.

"Critics Say Immigrants Calling Bluff" - "Terrorists can use South America as a launching pad to slip into Mexico and from there into the United States," says Rep. Ed Royce, R-Fullerton. ...Royce said non-Mexican illegal immigration threatens national security as much as foreign terrorism. "By allowing that smuggling network to function, we've created an opportunity for al-Qaida to infiltrate our border," he said. "Terrorists are smart, and they are looking to capitalize on our weaknesses. And the lack of attention and enforcement of immigration laws have given al-Qaida an opportunity."

Royce Stands in Support of Real ID Act - "The nineteen 9/11 hijackers had 63 validly-issued U.S. drivers licenses and other forms of identification between them. They were using these IDs to move around the country undetected - plotting and planning. In fact, as many as eight of them were even registered to vote."

Border More Lawless, Rep. Ed Royce Learns - Rep. Royce does not mince any words and explains his assessment of the bigger picture, one item of which is how open-borders extremists have done an effective job of recruiting credulous environmentalists to their side. ”The open borders lobby is approaching every ally they’ve got, trying to work them up on one argument or another,” he observed.

Keeping Criminal Aliens Off Our Streets" by Rep. Royce - "A criminal illegal alien has committed two crimes: entering the country illegally and violating a certain law. And given the damage caused by a policy of releasing criminal aliens, I have cosponsored The Keep Our Communities Safe Act. This legislation stops the release of dangerous criminal illegal aliens back into American communities."

Extending the Border Fence Will Strengthen Patrol Effectiveness (Rep. Ed Royce) - "With the establishment of the border fence project in San Diego crime rates have fallen off dramatically - by 50 percent. Extending the fence will allow the border patrol to focus its resources and better protect our border."

ISSUES - "As Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I believe that when it comes to immigration policy, national security should be our main priority. This is why I am focused on a sound border enforcement plan."

I missed the part where he talks about deportation. Feel free to highlight that part as I haven’t spotted it yet.

Deportation of illegal aliens is what enforcing American immigration law requires. You do know that that is the law, don’t you? I’m not sure Royce does, he never mentions it.

One thing about the frauds in the GOPe, you can tell where they stand by what they avoid talking about when giving empty quotes to the press.

I’m impressed that you are willing to spend so much time trying to put lipstick on the GOPe illegal alien pig, as if these jokers had the slightest intention doing anything other than some sort of amnesty.

And I do understand your motivation. You want to assure the reelection of Congressmen who are concerned about Ukraine’s borders, which is your real interest. America’s borders and illegal aliens aren’t your concern.

You're wrong. I am strongly concerned about illegal immigration and defending our border.

Since you are so determined to falsely accuse Congressman Royce of being weak on immigration issues, despite his excellent record on immigration, it makes me suspect that maybe immigration is not YOUR real concern. Perhaps you are just another isolationist who strongly opposes Royce's foreign policy, so you accused him of caring more about Ukraine than he does about the border. You tried to present a false dichotomy that those who support a strong foreign policy are weak when it comes to defending our border. But you were clearly wrong. Royce is strong on foreign policy, and strong on defending our border as well.

You: Ed Royce doesn't care about the border!

Me: Yes he does, he has a perfect voting record on immigration issues and opposes amnesty.

You: So what? He's never said anything about enforcing our laws!

Me: Well, here's proof he repeatedly has stated he does support enforcing existing law.

You: Those 3 quotes don't mean anything! He's never cared about the border.

Me: Well, here's five more quotes proving he does care about the border.

You: Those 8 quotes don't mean anything! He doesn't even have immigration listed as one of his issues on his website!

Me: Yes he does, it's right here, see?

You: You don't really care about the border.
