An execution taking place in Arizona tonight appears to have gone horribly awry. According to a report from the Associated Press, inmate Joseph Rudolph Wood "gasped and snorted" and was still alive more than an hour after the execution began. Wood was not pronounced dead until 3:49PM MT, one hour and 57 minutes after the beginning of the procedure.
Wood's lawyers filed an emergency appeal during the execution, noting that he was "gasping and snorting for more than an hour" but was still alive some 70 minutes after the execution began. The whole process should have taken 10 minutes, Wood's lawyers said.

Wood was sentenced to death for killing Debra Dietz and her father, Eugene Dietz, in 1989 at the family’s automotive shop in Tucson.
Wood and Dietz had a tumultuous relationship in which he periodically assaulted her. Dietz tried to end their relationship and got an order of protection against Wood.
On the day of the shooting, Wood went to the auto shop and waited for Dietz’s father, who disapproved of his daughter’s relationship with Wood, to get off the phone. Once the father hung up, Wood pulled out a revolver, shot him in the chest and then smiled.
Wood then turned his attention toward Debra Dietz, who was trying to telephone for help. Wood grabbed her by the neck and put his gun to her chest. She pleaded with him to spare her life. An employee heard Wood say, “I told you I was going to do it, I have to kill you.” He then called her an expletive and fired two shots in her chest.

Besides which I have news for them. People dying of other things will gasp for a few hours at the end.
The answer to all these concerns is simple, go to the chinese system. In the People’s Republic of China, apon conviction of capital crimes, and exhaustion of legal appeals, the condemned is brought in a timely manner to a place of execution to be shot. Ask the libs if they’d be okay with that.
"But Wood was abusive, and when (his ex girlfriend) Dietz moved out, he began stalking her.
On Aug. 7, 1989, Wood became enraged when Dietz wouldn't take his calls.
He went to the auto body shop where Dietz worked for her father, Eugene.
Eugene Dietz was on the phone when Wood entered. Wood waited for him to hang up and then shot him in the chest without a word.
Wood then hunted down Debra Dietz and shot her twice.
From another article
Jeane Brown, sister of victim Debbie Dietz, said Wood's potential suffering was nothing compared to her family's.
This was nothing," Brown said during a press conference following the execution. "I dont believe he was gasping for air. I dont believe he was suffering. This man deserved it.
BTW another factoid-- it took 25 years for this family to get justice.
His victim’s family suggested Drano.
I’d be OK with that.
Nitrogen Asphyxiation is totally painless and very fast. It's even faster if you lower the pressure as well like in a altitude chamber.
I once entered a chamber purged with nitrogen and almost passed out in less than 5 seconds.
lucky for me there was someone alert enough to pull me out.
Call Guiness Book, it might be a record.
....
At 8:50 a.m., a Tucson Police officer saw Defendant driving in a suspicious manner near the shop. The officer slowed her patrol car and made eye contact with Defendant as he left his truck and entered the shop. Eugene was on the telephone in an area where three other employees were working. Defendant waited for Eugene to hang up, drew a revolver, and approached to within four feet of him. The other employees shouted for Defendant to put the gun away. Without saying a word, Defendant fatally shot Eugene once in the chest and then smiled. When the police officer saw this from her patrol car she immediately called for more officers. Defendant left the shop, but quickly returned and again pointed his revolver at the now supine Eugene. Donald Dietz, an employee and Eugene’s seventy-year-old brother, struggled with Defendant, who then ran to the area where Debra had been working.
Debra had apparently heard an employee shout that her father had been shot and was trying to telephone for help when Defendant grabbed her around the neck from behind and placed his revolver directly against her chest. Debra struggled and screamed, “No, Joe, don’t!” Another employee heard Defendant say, “I told you I was going to do it, I have to kill you.” Defendant then called Debra a “bitch” and shot her twice in the chest.
This piece of filth sat in prison for 25 years while the family of the victim paid taxes to keep him in lawyers, cable tv, food, drink and increasingly fat-ass prison garb.
Screw him.

and this is a problem how??
“What in the hell happened?”
“An execution. A successful one.”
Bummer

No sympathy from me.
The next thing the Left will do is seek an immediate halt on all executions and SCOTUS will rule 5-4 that the death penalty is cruel and unusual and the Left will have another head to hang on its wall.
Ooops. He got an extra 50 minutes.
Nearly an hour to pine for the fjords.
What was botched about it? He died.
It's like nuclear-strength Valium. He'll die but won't know he is dead.
That's NUMBER, not MEMBER!
lol.
