The Julio-Claudians offered the Roman mob gold, bread, and circuses. They destroyed the middle class and then the upper class (except themselves, of course). They seized control of the enormously wealthy Roman Republic and established themselves as rulers of the Roman Empire with absolute power.

The second Emperor was Tiberius--the third Caligula.

Do you think the power hungry are not salivating over the thought of seizing control of the enormously wealthy American Republic?

Establishing themselves as its ruler with absolute power?

Do you think they haven't thought of this?

Do you think corrupt politicians, who are drawn to Washington like a magnet, would not do this if they could? will not do it if they can?

Do you think they're not dreaming right now about how they could pull it off?

What kind of people are going to be attracted to the magnitude of power that is concentrated in Washington?

Such people have always existed, in every population throughout history. In the past, the fulfillment of their evil ambitions was impossible; however in the decadent America of the 21st century, they envision a real possibility of success.

Some of us are willing to be cannon fodder for another American revolution. I may be slightly older and fatter than some of the youngin’s brainwashed by the socialists, but I have a lot more to lose, and a lot more to gain, by seeing that this Republic remain on firm footing.

I won’t fire the first shots, but you can be damned sure I’ll be ready with my musket right behind those who do.

I suspect that what you describe has already happened. The globalist elite are at this point grabbing as much wealth and security for themselves as they can, by profiting from the chaos and buying time while they secure their retreats. Globally we're seeing a "culling of the herd" and a securing of resources.

When early empires fell, I doubt that everyday citizens knew or cared until the death, disease, chaos and lack of means to survive were at their doorsteps.

When (not if) the global and national structures collapse, there will be regions, cities and towns that will persevere because they're self-sufficient.

In the book “None Dare Call It Conspiracy”, the author starts out by saying that if Hitler in some dank apartment in Vienna could have his dreams of domination, isn’t it conceivable that the world’s wealthy might do the same?

The black-clad WTO protestors seem to be the ones that understand most clearly that this country, and their standard of living, has been destroyed from within.

That about sums it up. The systematic looting of a nation, along with the consolidation of power leads a nation to serfdom.

I expect the ubercapitalist crowd (profits at all costs) to show up at any time, and tell you that you are a communist pig for not giving them unbridled control of the US economy, and how “immigrants” just “doing jobs that Americans won’t do” will save our economy.

The one thing that these oligarch wanna-be types have failed to account for is an armed rebellion against them, and their invading hoard of illegals. It will come down to that at some point, and all of the technology and rhetoric in the world won’t save them.

Look at a political distribution map, red vs. blue. See all of that red? That is what the opposition will be up against if it comes down to armed rebellion. Think about that.

The latino vote has no impact whatsoever---it's a nothng 10% and will remain so in the foreseeable future. Democrats barely mention immigration reform on the campaign trail despite making the issue their top domestic priority in 2013 and 2014.

The news gets worse for power-mad latinos. Cong Luis Guttierez went ballistic on broadcast news---he knows the power he desperately wants is slipping from his greedy paws.
