My older brother.....Mom likes him best....but when it comes to “SOmeone has to talk to mom!” he wimps out, and I get the honors LOL
I have all the same birds you do except for grosbeaks. And I do have a red belly woodpecker too. This spring I had a yellow rumped warbler but the it flew up mort.
You don’t have problems with starlings and house sparrows? They are pest birds and the government would like you to off them. My Gammo air shotgun is invaluable. You know those big clouds of black birds you see driving in the country? Those are starlings. If you attract one to your feeder you could have thousands the next morning.
oops, I don’t have blue birds either...probably because I’m too lazy to build them a condo.
well bout 30 minutes til ya head to bed, so what ya wearin ?
Clint, your turn.........................................
Carriage, and now you....................................
Yo, Frog.............got somethin here ?
did I mention it hit 120 here today ?
OH! You got to get the new thistle that doesn’t grow!
I get a few sparrows...mostly “red starts”....the house finches and gold finches KNOW Im gonna feed em all year...so they are plentifull...and I have the same woodpeckers, cardinals, and bluebirds year to year......
I do it for the pure joy of watching them and listening to them sing...
My sons know that my Christmas gift each year is 2 50 lb sacks of sunflower seeds
I am a nature lover held prisoner in an urban area, because I have yet to win the lottery ;-)
I think Mark is working on an EPA lawsuit.
Last thing my dad and I did together, was build the bluebird house...he was a master craftsman...but the ravages of Parkinsons etc...made it rough...we measured 3 times and cut once...and we still screwed it up......and after about literally 5 times...we got it........and built it.......and the birds come each Spring........I smile with every thought of that time with my dad
sounds awesome but mostly, earned.
GMO thistle? For My Liberl Organic birds? ;-) LOL
I will check it out
Black Walnut — that’s a 3 chain job.
I am wearing teal blue and white seersucker slacks, a teal blue oxford cloth button down shirt, and a white fleece sweater......(Boring I know...but hey.,.I need to be dressed to rescue a bird at any time, and not be in fear of frightening neighbors!)
No, these are called house sparrows, like european starlings they are not native to the country and they wreck habitat for other birds. They are considered pests and need to be radiated.
borin, I took notes !
I am PRAYING My mother has the brains to ask them to stack the black walnut wood at the house, and jnot just take it away! (I think I need to make a call!)
Dad and I used to put the black walnuts on the road, and drive the F150 over the nuts....to soften em up so we had half a chance of shucking them!
Air gun will take care of that......
Years ago, my grandfather would take great pleasure in getting up at about 0500 and lighting off a ROman Candle through the trees that the grackles used to perch in...................funny as crap! (then again that was the late 1950s and simple things amused us ;-)
Or eradicated...
Black Walnut (Juglans nigra L) is one of the tougher hardwoods; they make fence posts from the wood with cedar rails.
