Johns Hopkins Hospital has agreed to a $190 million settlement with more than 8,000 patients of a gynecologist who secretly photographed and videotaped women's bodies in the examining room with a pen-like camera he wore around his neck, lawyers said Monday.
Dr. Nikita Levy was fired in February 2013, days after an employee alerted hospital authorities about her suspicions. Levy committed suicide 10 days later. Investigators discovered roughly 1,200 videos and 140 images in his home.
"All of these women were brutalized by this," said the women's lead attorney, Jonathan Schochor. "Some of these women needed counseling, they were sleepless, they were dysfunctional in the workplace, they were dysfunctional at home, they were dysfunctional with their mates. This breach of trust, this betrayal this is how they felt."
The agreement is one of the largest settlements on record in the U.S. involving sexual misconduct by a physician.

Didn’t the doc have an internet connection?
We live in a pornofied culture. This guy was making his own porn images. Maybe he was inspired by some of the stuff of amateur internet porn. Well never know. But with things like this pen camera he used, its easier than ever for people to do stuff like this.
did the guy ever do anything with the pics? i didn’t get how the people were traumatized, was it just when the whole thing was revealed or was there some incident?
Astounding what can be done with tiny digital cameras. To hijack this thread a bit, this brings me to my last visit to the dentist. He has a whole set of tiny digital cameras he uses extensively in his practice to observe his patients’ teeth, show what he’s seen, and to enable him to get at the parts that need work. Really cool and great for his patients and his practice. He sold me on the need for a $1,200 crown several months ago just by showing me the image of a cracked tooth I had that needed the crown.
If you saw a huge cash settlement coming up, perhaps you’d be “traumatized”.
But, yes, I agree with you. I’d tell the ladies, “GET OVER IT”!
It's unclear from the article what prompted the investigation or what was done with the pics. I suspect he kept them for personal consumption but it's only my guess.
I recall a book that came out in the 80’s which purported to show data that the psych profiles of men who went into gynecology practice and rapists in state prisons were eerily similar.
Not sure about that, but as a guy I don’t know how I could ever hope to do that job and be fair to my patient. Talk about zero frame of reference.
For sure this guy needs to be in a state prison cell.
This thread... nahh. I ain’t going there...
