Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Saturday urged supporters to sign a petition to end what he said was “Obama’s amnesty,” a program authorized Obama that allows certain undocumented immigrants to stay in the U.S. without fear of being deported.
Cruz took to social media on Saturday to spur attention to his proposals.
“Join the fight to stop the crisis on the border -- sign the petition to #StopObamasAmnesty,” Cruz wrote on his Facebook and Twitter.
The Tea Party favorite is pushing legislation that would defund the program to prevent it from being expanded. Cruz says his bill should be a part of any broader package approved by Congress to deal with the crisis.
President Obama has proposed a $3.7 billion supplemental spending bill that would provide funding for authorities to care for the immigrants, and money to help the judicial system send them back to their home countries more quickly.

Cruz is right - if we stop offering citizenship as the prize for breaking our laws they’ll STOP coming...
Obamnesty?
The thinking is...IMO....we offer compassionate care for people who are here, even if we believe the best policy is to return them to their home country.
I get it...I think. I don’t believe what they are doing specifically is going to drive more people here, but I also am not sure if what they are doing isn’t already being done. From a politicians perspective, it is a good response when the accusations are made that they are heartless and hateful about the poor children. I hate that politics has reached this point in the last couple decades, but it has, and Cruz is wildly good at messaging and would certainly be able to counter the accusations after this.
Both parties are currently selling out America.
Both parties are currently for sending America industry overseas, much of it to China.
Both parties are currently for unrestricted illegal immigration.
Both parties. Nobody is doing a single thing for America, and for Americans.
Except for Cruz and Palin. Keep on the path, both of you.
Kinda puts a damper on all the Cruz haters here, especially those who jumped all over him for meeting Glenn Beck at the border (or did he?).

That was my thinking, but you have put it distinctly and clearly.
One, would be to introduce/support legislation for getting rid of birth right citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants.
Rand Paul supported such ideas back in the day. But, it didn't take him long to run away from it.
Cruz could set a example here. The main problem I have with Cruz, is that he likes to run his mouth instead of putting his vote on the line. Earlier in the week he voted for the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, aka .Gov insurance for corporations.
At some point, ya got to Impeach the Prez or get off the pot.
The debate in Washington between R’s and D’s boils down to how much money this country doesn’t have will be spent on helping the illegals.
Even if the GOP puts “security money” in there, the invasion and creeping amnesty policy of Obama continues.
Its all a very phony debate between Republican leaders and Democrat leaders in Washington because they all want to grant some sort of amnesty or “guest worker” status to illegals in the end.
The big money contributors like BILL GATES, WARREN BUFFETT AND SHELDON ADELSON ARE SHILLS FOR AMNESTY....
Love him or hate him, Beck takes private donations to help the illegals and he says he wants them to go back. I trust Beck is telling truth.
The politicians want to spend the taxpayers dime to help the illegals and can’t be trusted about anything they say.
When a Republican says we need to “secure the border” he’s really saying some sort of symbolic legislative trick needs to be used to suck conservatives in before the amnesty for millions gets shoved down our throat by the GOP leadership.
Cruzes wife is a Wall Street player with some of the biggest money changers in the USA. She also is a member of the Tri Lateral Commission which is workshop for the likes of Kissinger and the Rockefellers. It isn’t talked about but the Rockefellers got a bit of help from the Rothschild’s on their way to riches.
And many here are throwing him under the bus - all while he fights the good fight. And we call the Dims the Party of ignorance....
