Sylvia Mathews Burwell, Secretary U.S. Department of Health and Human Services 200 Independence Avenue, S.W. Washington, DC 20201
Craig Fugate, Administrator Federal Emergency Management Agency U.S. Department of Homeland Security 500 C Street SW Washington, DC 20472
Secretary Burwell and Administrator Fugate:
The Florida Department of Health has received unconfirmed reports that the federal government is bringing unaccompanied minors from the border to Florida today. On July 17, we received unconfirmed information that dozens of children were being brought by plane into Miami on Friday. This same day, ABC news reported that "the federal government is so overwhelmed by the current tide of migrants crossing the border it cannot provide basic medical screening to all of these children before transporting them, often by air, to longer-term holding facilities across the country. (Feds Struggling to Cope with Medical 'Breakdown' at the Border, ABC News, July 17, 2014.)
Specifically, ABC News reported that your Health and Human Services Department's Director of Refugee Health said you, "identified a breakdown of the medical screening processes. This breakdown was described in the news report as "a systemic failure of the handoff of these children between Customs Border Protection (CBP) and Health and Human Services (HHS).
If these reports are accurate, this "systemic failure in the federal system is extremely worrisome. In order to fulfill my duties as Florida's State Surgeon General, I am asking you to immediately provide the below information. This information is urgently needed to guard the health and safety of Florida communities across our state and is vital to the well-being of those children from the border who may have come through the flawed federal system.
Will you notify the Florida Department of Health immediately of any current or future unaccompanied minors coming to, or placed in, Florida, including their current location?
Are you conducting health screenings both at the border and again at the time the children are placed in shelters?
What medical services, if any, were provided to any children placed in Florida?
Do you have any records of infectious diseases associated with the children currently in federal care in Florida?
Have any of the children been hospitalized in Florida with fevers accompanying their illnesses? If so, where are they being treated?
Because of the urgency of this request, this letter is being immediately emailed and faxed to you. I expect a prompt response to my request for information on existing unaccompanied minors in Florida and would like to stress the importance of future timely communications.
Sincerely,
John H. Armstrong, MD, FACS State Surgeon General and Secretary Florida Department of Health
That doesn't apply if the nation has a traitor in the White House and gutless cowards in Congress.
** Sick the IRS on Dr. Armstrong**
??
So that he is ill?
Or do you mean something else?
This could be happening and not being reported, but I would think the Flight Attendant and Pilots Unions, and to a lesser extent the baggage handlers would be up in arms about this. They’re exposed to who knows how many communicable diseases day in and day out. And their families by definition would be at great risk as well.
An immediate strike is warranted.
I just told hubby that, earlier today...if the airline brass can’t or won’t say anything, surely those at risk, on the front lines, will.
Agreed. And the Congress, both parties, are aiding and abetting.
Head and body lice appear to be the same species, genetic study finds
Phys.org
Apr 09, 2012A new study offers compelling genetic evidence that head and body lice are the same species. The finding is of special interest because body lice can transmit deadly bacterial diseases, while head lice do not.
The study appears in the journal Insect Molecular Biology.
Scientists have long debated whether human head and body lice are the same or different species. The head louse (Pediculus humanus capitis) is a persistent nuisance, clinging to and laying its eggs in the hair, digging its mouthparts into the scalp and feeding on blood several times a day. The body louse (Pediculus humanus humanus) tends to be larger than its cranial counterpart, and is a more dangerous parasite. It lays its eggs on clothing, takes bigger blood meals, and can transmit relapsing fever, trench fever and epidemic typhus to its human host.
Previous studies have found that even when they are both present on the same host, head and body lice don't stray into each other's territories. They don't breed with one another in the wild, but they have been shown to successfully reproduce under specific laboratory conditions. The presence of head lice has little to do with human hygiene, but body lice seem to appear out of nowhere when hygiene suffers in times of war or economic hardship, for example.

"The differences in their sequences were so minor that if we didn't know they were separate groups, we would have considered them the same species," he said.

sick = sic, although in this context an interesting homonym substitution.
They are adding another illegal alien location to Florida every few days. Four locations are there already. This map is updated every day.

Oops! Five locations for the illegals in Florida! I can’t keep up!
Looks like a Jewish Service Center in Pasco County is housing illegals about 7 miles from my home!!!
“Looks like a Jewish Service Center in Pasco County is housing illegals about 7 miles from my home!!!”
My home is located in a cul-de-sac consisting of seven houses in a development. I’ve lived here for 35 years. About 7-8 years ago, one of the homes was up for sale. We got word from the owner that it was to be purchased for use as a “group home.” I googled and found this:
“People who live in such a group home may be developmentally disabled, recovering from alcohol or drug addiction, abused or neglected youths, youths with behavioral or emotional problems, and/or youths with criminal records.”
At the time, three of the families living in the cul-de-sac had two children each, under the age of 10 years. My children were grown and out on their own, but I certainly did not want a group home three doors away from my house! I prepared flyers and knocked on doors of about 20 houses in the area asking the residents to attend the regularly scheduled township meeting, which was to be held a few days later. We filled the room, but the mayor, and the township attorney said there was nothing they could do. It’s the LAW that anyone could buy and occupy a group home in residential neighborhoods.
We were sick until...
One day, the potential buyer appeared. One of our neighbors was furious! He told her that if she purchased the house, he would make her life miserable, and make the lives of the residents miserable.
She never bought the home. Another couple did, and they are the nicest people!
Whew! That was scary, but it could happen again. We do not have a choice because it’s a federal law!
Obviously, the genetic differences are sufficient to compel different behaviors, no matter what their similarities are.
The fact that they can be induced to breed under laboratory conditions does not negate the fact that they are two different species. Clearly, they are still fairly early in the speciation process. Since they do not naturally interbreed, eventually their genomes will drift far enough apart that interbreeding will become impossible even in lab conditions.
I would have not just limited the government responding to the health status of the children...I would have lumped them ALL into the equation...
Very narrow-minded, but well intentioned by the Surgeon General of Florida of course...A very good start...
I would recommend they re-submit this letter with an amendment...

How many physicians would recognize those diseases these days? Around here, most docs younger than 50 misdiagnose the occasional case of bubonic plague I just found the other info interesting and included it. Besides, who knew that lice were racists?
Before Kwell, the generally accepted topical treatment for lice was kerosene. I have no knowledge of its effectiveness. Or that of Kwell, for that matter.
Yes, borders in democratic societies are needed to keep illegal aliens OUT.... but in Communist countries borders are used to confine people in - to stop them from escaping.
One more reason to tell Obama and his commie-lite liberal elites to shove it. Up yours Michael Moore...
My son got head lice when he was little, and shared them. It took days to get rid of them. You have to poison them, comb out all the nits, and poison again a few days later. The nits cannot be poisoned because of their shells.
You cannot have both a generous welfare state and open borders. The liberals and statists are going to have to pick one.
36k for English as a second language ESL education. X 12 years.
OB/GYN services cost $20k or whatever hospitals decide to charge Medicaid. Plus WIC and free diapers and formula.
That “cheap” $40 lawn cut actually costs me $9,657.
