A bank robber tried to escape police by jumping into the Arkansas River.

He hasn't been seen since.

...

A witness who saw the whole scene unfold told 11 News that at first the suspect seemed confident that he had escaped police, going so far as to climbing onto a cement slab in the middle of the river and taunting officers.

Rushing water past an stationary object can create one hell of a vortex that could easily trap a person. He sleeps with the fishes.

Note to robber.
When you get to Royal Gorge float through on your back. Should be quite a sight, 1000’ walls straight up.

Vinnie,
You wrote: Note to robber. When you get to Royal Gorge float through on your back. Should be quite a sight, 1000’ walls straight up.

He jumped in downstream (Pueblo) so his body will probably wash up in La Junta or thereabouts - the Arkansas is running really fast right now. Just FYI. No Royal Gorge for him.
