Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) has been begging the federal government for years to secure Americas southern border. Now, as America faces what some are calling an invasion of illegal aliens, Perry said the time may come that Texas is forced to secure its roughly 1,200 mile border with Mexico with or without the federal governments help.
Weve been able to shut down illegal activities in certain sectors with our different operations that weve had, Perry said on The Glenn Beck Program Thursday. But I think theres a point in time where you say, You know what? This 1,200 mile border has to be secured. And if there is a people and if there is a place that it can happen, it will be Texas.

There’s info on the Texas State Guard on Wikipedia. It looks like 5 regiments (about 5000 men?) of army. There’s also a medical and an air wing. And it is in addition to the traditional National Guard.
It is about time...
If he meant to actually do it he would not announce it. The announcement is a heads-up to the feds to forbid him to do it while getting credit for the intention. If he meant to do it, and all the border governors should take real steps in spite of the feds, he would just send the Texas Rangers to the border and secure it.
In other news, at Governor Perry’s ranch, the barn door has been securely closed after it was discovered his horse had been stolen..
Maybe this jerk really did learn something being a Constitutional lawyer. What he learned are the powers such as Patrick Henry foretold at the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 5, 1788:
[snip]
If your American chief be a man of ambition and abilities, how easy is it for him to render himself absolute! The army is in his hands, and if he be a man of address, it will be attached to him, and it will be the subject of long meditation with him to seize the first auspicious moment to accomplish his design; and, sir, will the American spirit solely relieve you when this happens? I would rather infinitely and I am sure most of this Convention are of the same opinion have a king, lords, and commons, than a government so replete with such insupportable evils. If we make a king, we may prescribe the rules by which he shall rule his people, and interpose such checks as shall prevent him from infringing them; but the President, in the field, at the head of his army, can prescribe the terms on which he shall reign master, so far that it will puzzle any American ever to get his neck from under the galling yoke. I cannot with patience think of this idea. If ever he violates the laws, one of two things will happen: he will come at the head of his army, to carry every thing before him; or he will give bail, or do what Mr. Chief Justice will order him. If he be guilty, will not the recollection of his crimes teach him to make one bold push for the American throne? Will not the immense difference between being master of every thing, and being ignominiously tried and punished, powerfully excite him to make this bold push? But, sir, where is the existing force to punish him? Can he not, at the head of his army, beat down every opposition? Away with your {60} President! we shall have a king: the army will salute him monarch: your militia will leave you, and assist in making him king, and fight against you: and what have you to oppose this force? What will then become of you and your rights? Will not absolute despotism ensue?
Have you seen this?
Michael McCauls Team Responds to Conservatives Preparing to Revolt
“on how some Republicans are attacking the Texas lawmakers border-security proposals. A committee aide offered a point-by-point response to the memo as it was quoted in my piece, which you can read below...”
That "point in time" has long passed. Can you say political theatre? So far, Perry is all hat, no cattle.
Perry’s one of the good guys... save your powder for creeps like Obama and Holder...
What is he waiting on?
The governor is being contacted by a lot of angry folks right now, many of them Tea Party members and militias who are tired of this orchestrated illegal amnesty invasion. Prez couldn’t get his way with amnesty so he gave America the middle finger and said fine, I’m going to do it anyway and opened our borders instructing the Border Patrol to just let them pass. We know this has absolutely nothing to do with compassion for the illegals. It has everything to do with tilting the population to brownskins for power since the white population has been the vast majority for years. This is Jarrett and Obama’s payback to the white man they’ve been hinting at for so long It’s Cloward Piven to break our backs. Some of the black population is finally waking up to the fact that the man only looks black; he is not black and was never raised as one of them. And now they are finally starting to speak out against him.
If Open Borders Perry actually does this, he actually will become a contender for the Presidency.
Even though this should have been his first reaction/action.
Wow! He said it. Now let him do it.
That would be a true constitutional showdown. I don’t think the president can simply take over the NG unless it’s to deal with an emergency. I don’t believe he can take them over to NOT deal with an emergency.
Talk is cheap, Rick.
Quit jawing and do it.
(Not that you haven’t had the opportunity prior to this.)
I'm sick of WORDS!
A tad late, Governor.
The ole story about ‘closing the barn door AFTER the horse has escaped’ comes to mind.
Wait much longer and they will all be here anyway.
Years ago. Didn’t Perry run for president in 2012, and didn’t he claim that he would somehow secure the border without a full fence?
Did he and his people not actually study the issue back then?
