Transcripts of audio intercepted by Ukranian security services in which pro-Russian separatists discuss how they had shot down an airliner paint a chilling picture of what happened on the ground after Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 crashed near the Russian border, killing all 298 people on board, including 27 Australians.
The audio points to the involvement of the rebels, who are believed to have Russian backing, in the crash.

My former boss, Congressman Larry McDonald was on Korean Airlines flight 007 which was shot down by the Soviet Union in 1983. There were 269 on board and that aircraft held together for eleven minutes until it hit the water killing all on board.
This recent episode puts another massive crime right in Moscow’s lap.
The question is, why in the blazes does one shoot down a passenger plane? Target practice?
within a day Obama has FBI in eastern Ukraine but it took months to get them into benghazi
I recall that. It was terrible. At least then we didn’t have pseudo conservatives making excuses for the Soviets. Now, with a former KGB man trying to reestablish the old Soviet empire, we end up with too many people who are more pro-Putin than pro-American. May Congressman Larry McDonald, a fine conservative in the old school sense (not the crank new age pro-putin one) rest in peace.
a plane at 34K feet it would be hard to establish if it was commercial or military.
They made a major f up...they thought it was a cargo plane.
Occam’s razor.
...we do have to consider the source of these materials.
Right now, I don’t know if ANY side is trustworthy.
That seems to make a lot of sense to me—whoever shot it down.
Ukraine is not the place you want to fly over.

Thanks.
The day before they’d shot down a Ukrainian military cargo plane. They had the bit in their mouth, and were heady with power.
Putin seems pretty conservative to me. I don’t think the problems with Russian are liberal/conservative in nature.
“The question is, why in the blazes does one shoot down a passenger plane? Target practice?”
The purpose of terrorism is to terrorize. There is (usually) no military reason to shoot at a civilian target. But this exercise may be to disrupt civil life in an effort to get civilians to work on their government to end the conflict. On the other hand, in World War 1 a problem with using messenger pigeons was the troops got bored and shot at them. (Or, shot them for food.) It may be that the guys on the ground got bored and decided to use one of their excess shoulder rockets.
If you think conservatism means one church aligned with Putin imposing its doctrines on all others, if you think conservatism means Putin picks who can get rich, if you think conservatism means the reestablishment of soviet style hegemony over Russia’s neighbors, if you think that conservatism means Putin wins all elections, if you think conservatism means the rule of law doesn’t apply to Putin, if you think that conservatism means gangsters can kill opponents (especially in the press) for Putin, if you think conservatism means no free press, then, I guess your view of what is and isn’t conservatism is vastly different than what was traditionally believed to be conservatism.
“hey lets shoot at another plane....what’s the worst that could happen?”
*civilian airliner hit my missile*
“OMFG we screwed up”
So what do you want to do about it? Lob a few nukes at Russia?
No...he isn’t a conservative.....he is a soviet.....
Confuse the two again and I will smack you with a herring.
No...send them Sandra fluke.
The huge difference is that Pres. Reagan canceled his CA vacation and went back to Washington after the Korean shoot down, giving one of his most memorable speeches to the nation. Now, we have a dunce as president who gives this shoot down 40 seconds at a mediocre photo op and goes on telling jokes. It makes all the difference in the world.
And we, the American people still haven’t been told how many Americans died yesterday, when all the other countries have released information about their citizens. Is our NSA too busy spying on a grandmother’s cell phone calls in Omaha to report on what happened? Or is this information being embargoed so it doesn’t look so bad to have the president fundraising instead of taking care of business?
