The surviving suspect from a Stockton bank robbery, car chase and shootout that left a hostage and two suspects dead is a 19-year-old gang associate, police said Thursday.
Jaime Ramos of Stockton was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of homicide, kidnapping, robbery and attempted murder. Police said he was one of three documented Norteños gang members who took part in an hour-long chase and shootout with dozens of officers Wednesday.
... About an hour into the chase, the second bank-employee hostage was thrown or jumped from the vehicle that was traveling around 50 mph, police said. She was not identified and was expected to survive.
Minutes later, the SUV was finally disabled after its tires were shot out by officers near Thornton Road and Otto Drive in north Stockton. The gunmen again opened fire on police, who poured return fire into the SUV. Police said Ramos used the bank customer, who had been taken hostage, as a human shield. She and two suspects were killed. Ramos was not injured in the hail of gunfire.
Police said the two dead suspects were both Stockton gang members, ages 30 and 27. Officers did not release their names but said the 30-year-old suspect was the driver and the 27-year-old was firing an "AK-47-style" assault rifle from the passenger's seat.
Police did not release the name of the slain hostage, but family members told several media outlets that she was Misty Holt-Singh, who was married with children.

Ben - the images you posted - is the woman the hostage that was used as a shield and killed, or was she hostage that was thrown from the car (and survived)?
When cops open fire at a car with a female hostage held as a shield what do they expect will be the typical outcome? There had to be a better ending for this woman and mother like they show on TV every night.
If the cops knew about this gang why didn’t they do something about it before, not after, regardless of Obama?

I’m not as sympathetic to cops earning +200K (in 2009) a year in a bankrupted city when their 1st priority is not protecting the public that is forced to pay their freight.

It seems like 'red' is their color. But the guy on the rigth apparently couldn't afford a red t-shirt.
They can't seem to decide who to root for. I see one or two 49er shirts, and a Houston shirt.
One guy missed the dress code and dropped his mask (get with the program - either stay in synch, or stay out).
I don't think they know their own gang signs. Two seem to be showing 4 fingers on their left hand, and one on their right. I don't know what is going on with the second guy from the left. Almost seems like he's trying to impersonate a cat. The guy in the middle apparently can't count his fingers, and the guy in the white t-shirt is also 'flashing' the wrong sign (or maybe the other 4 morons are doing it wrong). I'm not sure what is going on with mini-me either. He also couldn't find a red t-shirt, and he's not sure about the finger signs (I guess he's only 4, so I'll cut him some slack)...
