Attorney General Pam Bondi said she would appeal, and spokeswoman says: "With many similar cases pending throughout the entire country, finality on this constitutional issue must come from the U.S. Supreme Court."
Sen. Bill Nelson: "Well see whether the state appeals. Meantime, as Ive said, I believe it's wrong to discriminate against any class of people including on civil marriage.
Democratic candidate for governor Charlie Crist: "Today was a great step towards equality in Florida. It is my hope that Governor Scott and Attorney General Bondi will accept the decision of the judge and allow all Florida adults to marry the person they love."
Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant: As we have seen time and time again over the last few months, when marriage equality bans are challenged in the courts, love wins. This is a tremendous victory for LGBT Floridians in Monroe County, and we look forward to soon celebrating full marriage equality across the state.
Democratic AG candidate Perry Thurston: Today is a great day for equality. I am thrilled by the decision of Judge Garcia and for LGBT couples in Monroe County. It is yet another reason for Pam Bondi to drop her ridiculous defense of this unconstitutional law like red and blue state Attorneys General across the country. It is time stop wasting taxpayer dollars on her ideological crusade and stand up for the rights of all citizens.
ACLU of Florida LGBT rights staff attorney Daniel Tilley: The ruling today is an important victory for thousands of loving couples in Florida. This is the beginning of the end of the marriage ban and of marriage discrimination in Florida. We congratulate Aaron and William on this important victory and look forward to celebrating the day that all Floridians can have their marriage to the person they love be honored by the state they call home.
Four quotes from liberals. One quote from a conservative.
Journalism.
What a limp-wristed response. I wonder how this will pan out? /sarc
Correction: FIVE to one ratio.
Except for Christians and conservatives.
can I ask a stupid question? How can a state judge in Florida strike down a constitutional amendment? How can they rule that their marriage law is unconstitutional when marriage is defined in the constitution?
Or is this a case of liberals doing whatever the hell they want and daring anyone to challenge them???
With their support of Trayvon Martin and Illegal Aliens, I really don’t expect Tricky Ricky or Dark Meat Bondi to pursue the appeal of this ruling, despite their comments Those two are all orange and no juice
Couldn't find it in Constitution. Please advise.
Liberals doing what they want until someone challenges them is exactly what we have here...
Even though Florida has had GOP governors and controls the state legislature...the judges they select (for FL Supreme Ct and Appellate Cts) have leaned liberal. Important to note if Jeb Bush runs for President
Florida passed a state constitutional amendment a few years ago, which defined marriage as a man and a woman.
Read the General Epistle of Jude, verse 7 and verses 16-20
“Four quotes from liberals. One quote from a conservative.”
That’s the state if the MSM today.
They only report statements of Democrats welcoming Gay Marriage and refuse to report all the strong statements of Republican officials who line-up to speak out against gay marriage.
Sen. Bill Nelson: “Well see whether the state appeals. Meantime, as Ive said, I believe it’s wrong to discriminate against any class of people including on civil marriage.
Really Senator? So you are okay with Pedophiles and Polygamists having civil marriages? You did say any class of people........................
Well,........bye.................enjoy your loss in November, a-hole...................
Bondi is not to be trusted.
