WICHITA, Kan. Moderate Republicans have been kicked around by the tea party for years in Congress and the states.
Here in Kansas, theyre fighting back.
A moderate GOP uprising is in full swing against Gov. Sam Brownback, the fierce fiscal and social conservative whose policies led to a purge of middle-of-the-road Republicans from the legislature early in his tenure.
In a rare and surprising act of political defiance on Tuesday, more than 100 Republicans, including current and former officeholders, endorsed Brownbacks opponent, statehouse Democratic leader Paul Davis. Polls show the challenger with a surprisingly strong shot at taking out Brownback in November.
Across conservative states in the Great Plains and the South, the last vestiges of Democratic power are at risk of being washed away in the fall elections by the tides of President Barack Obamas unpopularity. In the Jayhawk State, where Obama was trounced twice and is reviled by conservatives despite his own Kansas roots, Democrats are looking to buck that trend: Davis is presenting himself as part of a proud tradition of centrists from both parties.

I guess "let's all come together and support the nominee" only applies to conservatives.
When the shoe is on the other foot, apparently the democrat is preferable (as we've all known for years).

Wow! Let’s get together behind Republicans! The moderates ALWAYS do it, you foolish hobbits!

The way I see it, moderates have always been revolting. Especially those that try to pass themselves off as Americans.

In my experience, moderates ALWAYS refuse to support a conservative. Most will vote for the Democrat instead.

Funny we haven’t seen any farticles like this about the DemocRATS’ racist al-Raza Tequila Party. I haven’t heard one DemocRAT whine about how racist the Tequila Party is.

Isn’t “moderate uprising” somewhat of an oxymoron.

Before Brownback’s purge, the moderate, limp wristed wimps put Kansas in the hands of Sibelius.

I’ve heard it called the “Sunflower State” and the “Wheat State.’ When did it become the “Jayhawk State?”

A long time ago. We moved there in 1952 when I was a kid and it was called the Jayhawk State then.
