Pope Francis says migrants around the world are subjected to racist and xenophobic attitudes and he wants the tens of thousands of Central American children crossing the border into the United States to be welcomed and protected.
... He said that not only must the children be welcomed but the world must also promote development in their home countries.

This is why I'm a Baptist. For such an educated man, he has no ability to let his logic run to its natural conclusion.
The failed states in Central America are responsible for this. He should start there be demanding they execute justice.

Did you hear that everyone in the world: The Vatican is open for welcoming and protecting! Load up the buses, trains and ships. Go live in a palace.

Welcoming children is politics? I can see Elizabeth Warren now, calling the GOP on their war on children.

This is somewhat of an aside but I have always been fascinated but the differences between to colonies settled by Catholic Spain and Portugal versus Anglo England. Central and South America certainly have plenty of resources and many good peoiplpe, but never unified and have a long tradition of government corruption and poverty.
I left the Catholic Church but not the faith. It was too much doctrine and too little Bible, too much pope and too little Jesus.

Yeah, no borders or sovereignty—that is so 20th Centry. Instead, lets all be “welcoming”. Except that the taxpayers in the welcoming countries still get stuck with the bill. No surprise, as the Pope has always lived off of other people's largess.

The Pope has survived the worst of Marxism. Hardly a sheltered life. It made him the crafty politician he is today. Evil is putty in his hands. A vampire hunter.

Those so recently accused of Catholic bashing were done so with plenty of evidence. They do not comment on hardly any other threads. Their FR visits are almost exclusively to do this. A quick in forum review is all that is needed. In addition to their thread visits, their posts almost always devolve a rational discussion between FReepers into mass holy war hysteria. Those of us, Protestant and Catholic, are hindered from rational, respectful discussion because of these FReepers.

He’s Jesuit. Taking care of the poor always comes first. Most of what he does and says comes from this angle.
Certainly I don’t agree with his statements. There’s what we should do and what we must do.
We should take care of the children, we must deport them back.

The pope wouldn't sell or return a single ounce of gold stolen from now third world countries to buy a single happy meal for any if these descendents of mestizo slaves.
