A trio of potential Republican presidential candidates in the Senate is rebuffing President Obama over the influx of children from Central America across the southern border.
But even as Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Marco Rubio of Florida blame Obama, there are differences among their critiques.
Cruz took perhaps the boldest swipes at the president and his request for $3.7 billion in emergency funding to address the issue. Cruz was also the only one of the group to speak on the floor this week.
Paul remained mostly quiet, having published an op-ed during the Independence Day holiday that criticized the country's immigration policy broadly but did not directly address the minors streaming across the border. He's also withholding comment on the president's funding request until there is written legislation, according to spokesman Sergio Gor.
Rubio, who finds himself in perhaps the most awkward position because he supported the Senate's immigration bill last year, defended his position while jabbing at Obama.
Here's a look at the where the senators stand on the issue:
Cruz: "Of the president's own making."
Cruz took the president on directly, blaming him for the influx of children, which he said could top 90,000 by the end of the year.
"This is a humanitarian disaster, but it is a disaster of the president's own making," Cruz said Wednesday. "It is a disaster that is a direct consequence of President Obama's lawlessness."
He dismissed the president's $3.7 billion request and said it would not solve the problem. He instead suggested that "boots on the ground" would stem the tide of children crossing the border.
"This is an HHS social-services bill," Cruz said of the president's supplemental request.
Cruz also compared the request to the $800 billion economic stimulus bill in 2009, saying it was sold to the public as a jobs bill but that the so-called shovel-ready jobs did not materialize as promised. In this case, the administration claims the funding request is for border security, yet much of the money goes to the Health and Human Services Department, Cruz argued.
Paul: "Beacon to all of Central America."
Echoing the language he used in an op-ed last week on Breitbart.com, Paul told reporters in Kentucky—without getting specific—that he backs some forms of forgiveness but that he thinks the border should be secure first.
"Now that's become a beacon to all of Central America because we didn't secure the border," he said, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. "So if you don't secure the border and you offer these things of reform and forgiveness, many of which I'm for, but if you don't secure the border, then you get this humanitarian crisis and the whole world thinks they can come and no one's stopping them."
Rubio: "Take care of them as ... humanely as possible … but they do need to be returned."
Rubio defended his vote on the immigration bill by pointing out that neither the legislation nor current law allows the children to stay in the country. Like Cruz, he criticized the administration's funding request and pointed out that the lion's share of it goes toward HHS, with too little going to secure the border.
"We need to apply the law, we need to take care of them as … humanely as possible while they are here but they do need to be returned and reunited with their families in their home country, because that's the law of the country," Rubio said in an interview with Hot Air. "If you don't enforce the law you are creating an incentive for people trying to come here."

Paul outed himself as an Amnesty Pimp some time ago.
And Rubio left no doubt about it when he joined the gang of eight amnesty pushers and revealed himself to be a latino first.
Our country is being invaded.
Our Commander in Chief refuses to protect us.
Like Cruz and Rubio.
Yes, a fence is needed but it won’t solve the problem.
Deportation the only thing that gets rid of illegals.
Some GOPe hacks will support building a fence but they will still vote for amnesty for illegals who get past the border. Don’t let them fool you.

Personally, I think we have plenty of laws already. (We even have a ‘build the fence’ law.)
So, build the fence.

The Society mistakes the fears of borough-mongers, placemen, and pensioners, for the fears of the people; and the temperate and moderate Reform it talks of, is calculated to suit the condition of the former.
Those words, "temperate and moderate," are words either of political cowardice, or of cunning, or seduction. A thing, moderately good, is not so good as it ought to be. Rubio wrote and pushed the last Senate illegal alien amnesty...so he pretty much supports Air Obama...contrary to what he says

Perry was pretty impressive briefing Sean Hannity about his border operations on Fox the other night. Very hands on with the border operators (warfare) guys.
Go, Ted, GO. He is qualified to be President on so many levels. Most of all, he’s been fighting for us. He stands up and speaks out, oh so eloquently, for the Constitution, our liberty and freedom. He can get in your face if he chooses, or knock you out with facts. And he doesn’t use a teleprompter.

I’m all for doing first things first. And that first thing has to help solve the problem, not provide a feel-good cover for BS artists of the GOPe.
What is the border fence going to do about the 40% of illegals who come here with visas that they then overstay?
Nothing. Nothing at all.
What will the fence do about the 20-30 million illegals already in the USA?
Nothing. Nothing since they are already here.
Eisenhower knew something about getting things done. He took care of a previous illegal immigration invasion by deportation.
That is the first thing that needs doing.
Squawking about a Fence just gives cover to the phonies and frauds within the GOPe who can build a fence while not doing one damned thing to remove the millions of illegals already here. Millions of illegals that they intend to grant amnesty to.
Cruz’s opinion is the only one that should be trusted here.

There are already laws against overstaying a visa. There are already laws to track that information. There are already laws to deport illegals. There are already laws to prevent access to social services.
Nope.
The first step is that double fence, with high tech no-man’s land in between and regular patrols.
Then he should do it, he has the Constitutional authority to defend his state from invasion, maybe he just doesn't want to pay for it.
We have way too many weak sister republican governors that refuse to assert their authority, because of that, I fear the Republic is lost.

Congress funded the fence during Bush 43’s administration.
Do you see a fence? Of course not. Good GOPe political hack that he is, Bush 43 wanted Amnesty and not a fence.
And the Republican majority in Congress did nothing to make him obey the law and the will of the American people.
Obama isn’t the first President to believe that he is above the law. To believe that he can ignore laws that conflict with what he likes. Dubya did exactly that in his refusal to deport illegal aliens. And now Obama is exploiting the problem that Dubya let fester for 8 years.
What I DON’T want is “build the fence first”.
I want Deportation First, because that’s what removes illegal aliens back to their home countries. Deportation is ONLY way that Californian’s get their State back.
GOPe frauds are more than happy to chirp about building a fence. Hell, they will even eventually get around to building a fence at some point.
They’ll wave to nice shiny border fence as if they have done something about the 3rd world tsunami flooding the country.
But they’ll build a fence and and have Amnesty too. They’ll deport no one. The GOPe is fine with helping transform the USA into a Latin American country.
They have no allegiance to America’s culture or people. They will sell it out for their personal gain, they have been doing exactly that for years.
Their sole allegiance is to their short term political advantage.
