No matter how many ways I say this, Im going to get the usual RINO! reaction. Ill give you the caveat as plainly as I can: this is not an article for or against the impeachment of Barack Obama.
Now, no matter how forcefully I say it, there is still a faction on the right who will take my failure to immediately call for Obamas impeachment as their chance to damn me as a RINO, a traitor, a fifth-columnist, a secret Obama supporter, a squish, and a sellout to the Evil Establishment. So before you lose your grip, reread the first paragraph carefully. This is not an argument for or against the impeachment of Barack Obama.
While one can certainly make the argument Obama has committed impeachable offenses, his political opponents are not capable of pulling off impeachment in the current political climate, even if they want to. It may be right to. You may think that this is the final way to teach this haughty, terrible, lawless President the lesson he sorely deserves, but youre wrong.
You cant pull it off. Both the Congressional Republican establishment and the Tea Party caucus lack the skills, discipline, and planning to impeach Barack Obama. Its not because Boehner and leadership are squishes. Its not because the Tea Party caucus is too undisciplined to plan a barbecue. The reason is more serious.
No one has a plan. There is no strategy. Theres no roadmap for the months-long process that would become the center of American political life to the exclusion of every other issue. Bluster and self-indulgence isnt a strategy (Dont blink!), but it does play into some separate venality and political ambition. Theres a ravenous hunger for clicks and donations on email lists [DONATE HERE OR THE REPUBLIC WILL FALL]. Theres a desire my some future Presidential candidates to out hard-ass other Republicans prior to 2016. But is there a plan? Of course not.
Give me your elevator pitch, not for impeachment qua impeachment, but for how the story plays out from the announcement to Obama mounting the steps of Marine One and flashing a Nixonian farewell salute. Whats your Day One communication strategy when we begin impeachment proceedings? Whats the Day Two strategy? Whats the strategy after the first week? Who are the legislative handlers? Who are the key faces for the media? Whats the timetable, the media plan, the surrogate plan all the boring block-and-tackle stuff? What happens when your rock-solid arguments melt under legal challenges from every quarter?
Did you remember there are other players in this game? Did you forget that the American people are notoriously fickle? Did you forget that the media still yields a mighty power to misrepresent, to distort, and to flat-out lie about what youre trying to accomplish? What happens when this raises $50 million in online donation for the bad guys? What happens when they start dropping oppo like nukes on every member of the impeachment committee? What happens when Americans who are bored and restless decide youre not talking about their lives, but just playing inside Washington games? What happens to the message strategy of every GOP House, Senate, and Governor candidate in the country? What happens when this doesnt turn bring the White House to heel but instead becomes the only rallying cry that could wake Democrats from their post-Obama, post-Obamacare funk? What happens when Harry Reid slits your throat by not allowing the Senate to pass judgment.
This isnt something you pull out of your back pocket. This has to be planned, war-gamed, and worked through. The DC boys will act with too much caution, and the Tea Party guys will act with none at all. But as with the shutdown, without a plan, its got DISASTER stamped on it in red letters.
Just as in the travesty in Mississippi, conservatives will wonder why everything they read on Breitbart or World Net Daily or GotNews didnt magically change everything. Theyll wonder why magical thinking got its ass kicked by a bare-knuckle, operational campaign. Theyll wonder why the other side laughs at their Marquis of Queensbury rules and skates up to and over the edge of the law. Theyll wonder why their lack of discipline and failure to plan left them with nothing. Theyll wonder why the issues they see as so obvious, so compelling, and so damning didnt translate to ordinary Americans. Theyll wonder how Obama could possibly escape with his popularity higher than when he started.
Just because Noted Political Strategist Sarah Palin says it, it doesnt mean its going to happen. Just because the American Patriot Tea Party Patriotic Front for Tea Party Patriotisms emails promise well impeach him if youll just click the donation button one more time doesnt mean impeachment is practical or possible. If you proceed with impeachment without a comprehensive, aggressive, well-thought-out communications and political action plan, you will fail.
You will fail to impeach Barack Obama. You will fail to recapture the Senate. You will fail to turn his last two years in office into the living political hell he richly deserves. And when you fail, the Democrats and Barack Obama get to run their plan instead. They will run back into the welcoming and cozy embrace of their media allies. They will justify every new executive excess and overreach by blaming the GOP for impeachment. Obama will ignore and defy Congress like never before.
If it makes you feel even a little better, this is a Presidency that already reeks of failure. It is a Presidency that will go down in history as a rolling disaster led by a charismatic con man so vastly oversold to the public that it defies description. His failures are a shame and a stain on the Democratic Party that will ripple out for decades. Hell go down as a historical oddity, a sideshow freak with a cult of devotees divorced from reality. Hes politically dead already, but hes too prideful to lay down and start stinking.
As I said the beginning Im not making a judgment over whether we should impeach Barack Obama or not. Thats a legal question above my pay grade. But if Republicans and conservatives continue to make this a part of their message without a more complete plan than weve shown were capable of producing this far, expect the worst. Well be wasting bandwidth and political capital talking about a half-assed, hypothetical impeachment plan that will hurt us more than it will hurt him.
A plan beats no plan, every time.
ready for a coup
the entire system , both Parties , is utterly corrupt and broken . The Constitution has been subverted in virtually every way possible . By lawyers....Time to give the helm to the warriors for awhile .
RINO!. . .I don't know how many ways you can say it. . .but the way you chose. . .arrogance, condescension and just being an all-around self-absorbed asshat. . .will get you the RINO tag, deservedly so, EVERYTIME!!
The first enemies of the Republic that need to be neutered are the lapdog media. Never before in American history have so many been lied to so much by so few.
So what was the carefully wargamed, meticulously detailed roadmap everyone followed when Clinton was impeached?
Everything in that article could be boiled down to “it’s complicated, so we shouldn’t even try”. I note that he doesn’t even begin to say what the solution is, if impeachment isn’t possible. Anyone can sit around naysaying and criticizing, and ol’ Ricky there doesn’t even want to hear from you if you don’t have everything already charted and scripted.
What a putz.
Since I can’t edit to add, I have to reply again with:
Hey, Ricky! All that boring planning, “block-and-tackle” stuff to get ready for impeachment? THAT’S YOUR F#^&ING JOB!
If he were to resign, like Nixon, under the threat of impeachment, would Joe Biden or Valerie Jarrett take his place?
The Founders never thought we would have a democracy, where even the most ignorant citizens could vote to choose the leadership of the nation. If you watch “Water’s World” on O’Reilly, you see what passes for a college student these days,
and they voted in huge numbers for this flop of a president.
Had they foreseen the stupidity of their successors in instituting a democracy, they might have adopted the “vote of no confidence” route to getting rid of a loser president, as parliamentary governments can do.
Just look at what the Democrats accomplished in 1973-74. It took 20 months of intense, synchronized activity, highly organized and following a well-thought out master plan to remove a President who had just won. 520 electoral votes and 61% of the popular vote.
There is no corresponding Republican structure capable of anything like that.
The outcome...successful impeachment...President Biden?
LOL

That’s because we haven’t had the press in our pockets since the 1890s. It has been “progressive” at least that long. At first they hid it pretty well but now the masks have come off almost completely.
we need to continue developing the case for impeachment regardless. Perhaps the battlefield will change in our favor and present an opportunity. Impeachment remains the goal even if if the goal is not presently realistic. Stay on target.
I agree with the idea of continuing to make the case for impeachment, whether or not it actually materializes, but I would state out goal differently.
In my opinion, our goal needs to be restoration of our republic, a constitutionally limited federal government. Impeachment of Obama then is but one theater of conflict in a much wider political struggle. I suggest we keep focused on restoring those constitutional limits.
Mil rule.....
reinstate sedition laws
I assume that was tongue-in-cheek, but to answer your question, Slow Joe is legally the next-in-line. However, I wouldn’t be at *all* surprised if, once Joe took office, Jarrett continued in the same role she currently has.
IMHO: The Whole Lot Of Them. Tar. Feathers. Rail. Some assembly required.
People like this author are the prime examples of why we are in this predicament. Their premises are incorrect. We don’t lose because we don’t plan. We lose because the game is rigged and not by our sworn enemies, but by our supposed allies.
Some people have zero faith so they need every move plotted out with every possible counter strategy by the enemy met by an overwhelming force counter move before they will do anything. I’ve known people who lived their lives like that — paralyzed. They do nothing, they accomplish very little, they live perpetually cowed.
We don’t control the media, we never will. We don’t control the fickle people in this world, we never will. As for shaking in our boots over the dirt the dems have on us, if we can’t stand the heat, we need to get out of the kitchen. Blackmail is an evil thing. We don’t control the evil in this world. But there is something we do control — our own actions.
1. Do what is right.
2. Put our faith in God and trust in Him.
Because we have failed to do those two things we are in this situation now. Because we imagine we can control anything outside of ourselves, we are proven wrong time and again. The only thing we can control is our own action or inaction. If we fail to do what is right — impeach, if we fail to put our faith in God and not man, we will utterly fail and no amount of planning and long drawn out thought will change that fact. No amount of waiting for a human savior to magically appear or media turn around will help.
The author does not see the real problem at all. This pass fail test is not being given to Obama. He’s been positioned where he is for a reason. The hand is writing on the wall. That hand is writing for us. Will we be found lacking in — courage, faith, and will to do what is right? These cowardly so called conservatives keep reminding me that: All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.
Paralysis is not an option. We must do what is right or our failure is already complete.
It is as simple as this.
Impeachment is a political process. To be successful, the public has to be demanding it.
Until then it is a fools errand. You don’t make an attempt on the King unless you know you will succeed. To fail only further unleashes him to do more things he couldn’t do in the open before. And he would.
My 2 cents...
You need to convince the general public, not congress. When the public is clamoring for it, congress will follow. That is the simple truth of it.
absolutely. In order to do that, however, we need to keep our offensive momentum going into the mid terms and we do that by staying on target by massing the effects of overwhelming offensive power at the decisive place and time-the midterm elections. He and they are unbalanced right now and on the defense. They need to stay that way.
