As the nation deals with an immigration crisis at its borders, businesses are stepping up their calls for reform.
The Obama administration is desperately trying to deal with the influx of tens of thousands of unaccompanied children crossing into the United States.
The crisis may deflect Congress' attention away from doing anything meaningful over the nation's immigration laws, said Thomas Donohue, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, which represents the largest U.S. businesses. But the group still renewed its push for immigration reform.

Yet we need MORE immigrants?
There are plenty of workers, they just want to pay less.
Decrease welfare and unemployment benefits and the pool of job applicants will surge.
And the ones we are getting are definitely not the educated ones.
They can’t find enough workers willing to work for cut rate wages. That’s the issue.
winner winner chicken dinner!
problem is, once the illegals become legal.. they tend to want the same amounts the rest of us do, or they just sign up for a spot on the tit.
And how many are freeloading in this country?
Yep, soon they will join unions and protest for $15 an hour minimums
Bunk.
America really, really needs to start to act like a real nation once again.
America needs to be for America.
The first one you cite is actually a argument for some sort of immigrant worker program.
Its Americans freeloading on disability, or some are really disabled, need someone to work to pay for it.
The second one is an argument against one.
Bullseye!
I see a lot of that in job postings that mention wages and salaries and a lot of them have gone down compared to what they used to be.
When Obama eliminated the requirement to look for work in order to get the welfare payments, the ‘workers’ stopped looking. It is not cut rate wages that has stopped the availability of workers......it’s just that they can get too near welfare wages in the workplace to bother to actually work for nearly the same money.
We have workers in abundance.
A gazzillion American citizens, between ages 20 and 30, are doing bugger all. Except whining about the fact they can’t start work as a CEO. And whining that the cost of an iPhone is more than mom and dad want to pay.
Why don’t they try US first. A lot of people are out of work and will take those “immigrant” jobs
Led by adults, not immature politicians
You hit the nail on the head.
All H1B was ever about was driving wages down to ‘equalize’ us globally.
There is no job in America that someone won’t do. It’s all a matter of paying them. H1B scuttles market/employment/wage values by introducing artificially (to the American economy) low wage illegals to benefit profit. The free market is no longer free when the rules get changed like that. It is now the ‘manipulated’ market.
Econ 101.
I'll put it another way. If we DON"T decrease welfare and UE benefits, then the pool of citizen applicants WILL NEVER surge. Lotta folks, including Freepers don't want to admit it, but welfare and UE benefits ARE A BIG BIG PART of the illegal immigration problem.
