I notice the news is full of faith groups touting our obligations to the children. It seems to me that expressions of charity are only righteous if they are done on a personal level. Forcing me to pay for your charitable contributions through higher school taxes, increased medical costs and increasing deficits is just theft.
Last night, Sean Hannity talked to two Catholic Charities members---one a nun, the other the head of the organization. He asked them repeatedly if the best thing for the children wasn't to send them back to their parents, and he had a difficult time getting an answer. The nun said we need to go these countries and improve conditions for those who live there.
Sean opined that the U.S. can't be responsible for the entire world, and those two sat there with goofy grins on their faces as if they couldn't comprehend what he meant.

Two step process.
1) SEND THEM HOME.
2) THEN, Encourage Faith Based groups to go to their countries and HELP THEM.
I’d donate to #2 and even volunteer to spend a few months there.
