Publishing executives are reportedly 'on notice' for allegedly paying Hillary Clinton $14 million for her highly-anticipated memoir which sold just 161,000 copies in its first three weeks. Sources told the New York Post 'there’s lots of finger-pointing going on at (publisher) Simon & Schuster' over the expensive deal. Although the publisher sent one million copies of 'Hard Choices' to stores, a low 85,000 were sold in the first week before sales plummeted in the subsequent two weeks. The book hit stores on June 10.

Everyone (except conservatives) thought Hillary’s book would be a big seller and that is why Costco had so many at their locations. Her book has been out for a month and you can anticipate it being removed by Costco VERY soon.

This decision was made at the top but I am sure some low-level flunkies will be fired.

Yep. But this kind of story makes me think some rich, liberal CEO or VP etc is being slapped in the face with capitalism.

The irony makes me laugh.

The book was priced at $35. Break even was likely selling 500,000 copies.

They looked at the sale of Obama’s books, she’s apparently front runner for president.

Her book tour was a complete mess with her foot in mouth disease (more like compulsive lying) and she’s tanked 12 points in opinion polls.

Break even might be closer to a million. Even at $35 printing costs and stuff are going to eat a bunch.

From the outset, I suspected that the much-televised long lines for Mrs. Clinton's (ghost-writer's) book was a clumsy and obvious publicity stunt.

That said, I would stand in a long line, for a long time and pay the $99 in order to NOT buy it.

Printing and shipping costs likely 3-5 bucks max. There’s a huge markup on books.

It’ll be 40 and 50% off soon.

$14,000,000 to make things up to (unsuccessfully) make yourself look good? I wish I was so lucky

I used to live in NYC and I beg to differ. New Yorkers are so ignorant it will make your teeth hurt just listening to them

What were they thinking? At one million copies, that would still not have put her out of her advance.

To put this in perspective, Stephen King's book Doctor Sleep only had an initial print run of 1.1 million books. And Stephen King has sold over 350 million books.

To give that level of advance to someone who is not one of the top five fiction writers in the world is completely irresponsible and should cost a lot of people their jobs.

Watch for them on the 25-cent basket at your local thrift store.

She will never be president. She is a has been that never was. Too old, too sick, and her time as SoS does not reflect well on her. She now has a track record and it’s not good. Sorry, Hill, Obama stole your thunder.

I also saw online publishers track the reading levels (how much of book was completed) by percentages.

Something like 2-3% of Hillary book buyers actually finished the book.

Even her fans can’t wade through her b.s.

Just do what Bill did with taxes...

Retroactively raise the price of the book to $100 and send everyone who already bought it a bill for the difference...

Hmmmm...usual suspects get to legally funnel money to the Clintons for payoffs/access and S&S gets to fire who it pleases.

Looks like another Liberal win-win situation to me.
