Washington, DC (LiveActionNews) Dr. William Harrison was a Los Angeles abortionist who performed many thousands of abortions in his career. The New York Times paid him tribute in an obituary after his death in 2010 at the age of 75. The New York Times called him a defender of abortion rights and painted him as an unselfish and committed champion of women.
In 2006, Dr. Harrison appeared on Nightline, interviewed by reporter Martin Bashir. Bashir asked him a series of questions which the abortionist answered on the air.
According to Dr. Harrison:
My conscience calls me to do abortions because I consider the mothers life much, much more important than that tiny little blob of tissue.
Martin Bashir, however, does not let that fly. Apparently, he knows the facts of fetal development and in a move rather atypical for the usually abortion supportive media, he says:
Its interesting you say its a blob of tissue, but as you know after just 21 days, the heart is pumping blood. At 42 days, the child has recordable brain waves. And you are, every day, relentlessly terminating that life, and youre happy with that?
The abortionist replies:
Am I happy with it? No, but Im not distressed about it. I would be a lot more distressed if I could not terminate that life for the patient that that life is going to be a disaster for.
So Harrison, when challenged, goes from saying the baby is a tiny little blob of tissue,to admitting that abortion terminates a life.
Harrison would again make this admission, in 2007, in his essay entitled Why I provide abortions. He would say:
No one, neither the patient receiving an abortion, nor the person doing the abortion, is ever, at anytime, unaware that they are ending a life.
Back to the interview on Nightline, Harrison tells Martin Bashir:
Ive had lots of patients who come in for second, third, fourth, fifth, even one who had nine abortions.
Bashir then asks:
Is that really appropriate?
Harrison replies:
If she needs nine abortions, yeah.
One wonders what kind of birth control a woman who needs nine abortions is using. Perhaps Dr. Harrison himself gives the answer:
Whether you have an abortion or not is relatively minor. Basically, abortion is a method of birth control. You know, its not the best method of birth control. But all it does is stop the birth of a baby that a woman doesnt want at a time she doesnt want it.
So it may seem that some of the women who come to Harrison, particularly those who have multiple abortions, are in fact using abortion as their sole (or at least primary) method of birth control. In another Live Action article, you can read about some of the reasons given by women who went to Harrison for abortions, including one who aborted because she thought her wedding dress would not fit with a baby in there.
Harrison goes on to say:
Ive had one of the most emotionally satisfying careers that I can imagine anyone having. I cant tell you how satisfying it is, when two weeks after a young woman has come in distraught and thinking that her life is ruined, and she comes back two two weeks after the abortion and she is a new woman. Shes been given her life back.
Apparently, ripping apart babies like these ones, who were aborted at nine weeks, was emotionally satisfying to Harrison in the years he performed abortions.
The rest of the interview goes as follows:
Bashir: And for her to be born again, youve had to kill the fetus.
Harrison: Uh-huh. Thats right.
Bashir: And thats a fair exchange?
Harrison:Thats a fair exchange.
The lives of unborn babies were cheap and expendable to Dr. Harrison. His words show how callous he had become after doing abortions for years. Pro-lifers must educate the public that the lives of these babies matter and that these children are not disposable.

So, he knows it's murder, admits it's murder and is "distressed" that it's murder, but he would be more distressed if he wasn't able to commit the murder.
Sounds like a self-admitted serial killer, to me.

While I’m definitely against abortion, look on the bright side, nine more not on the “takers list”.
That’s what I was thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awwwww. He does it for the child's AND the mother's well-being. What a philanthropist.
I can't help wondering though, what the race is of this particular woman. I wonder if she is in one of those categories of humans the eugenicist, Margaret Sanger, declared "unfit" to the point of reducing their numbers in society.
I find it especially comforting this fat murderous ba$tard is roasting on a spit in hell.
“If she needs nine abortions, yeah.”
The woman needs to be STERILIZED.
Creepy old tub of lard. Gets a high off killing children and calls it therapeutic? Ugh.
A feral cat in heat probably has more self-control. Not to mention a functioning mothering instinct.
I have read of people having life after death experiences, who were on the other side of the actions they committed throughout their lives, feeling the pain they inflicted on others, as well as the good they did. This man is in for a heck of a Judgement Day.
He looks like the type of dirty perv that if he isnt killing kids, he is trying to molest them.
Don`t understand why a Dr would do
this evil work.
Think that Woopie Goldbug had about 9 abortions.
Of course he is not distressed, it is profitable for him. Repeat 'customer' and all that - I mean the soon-to-be unpregnant, not the victim!
Can someone please tell me how a person can have nine abortions - in other words, get pregnant that many times after that many abortions? I always thought it was one or two and then the person was infertile or so doctors used to warn. Obviously, times have changed.
I’ve always wondered if we build our own heaven or hell. How appropriate would it be if they spent eternity with nine crying babies. Abortion takes souls away from God.
The callousness of this guy is breathtaking, but then, he really probably realizes that if he doesn’t someone else will, so he’ll be happy to take that money! America, your guilt is piling up for the day of destruction. I cannot believe that it has not come already, but we daily see that it must be soon. Hedonism and abortion are propelling us like a rocket, not to mention that Christianity is waning. When Obama thinks the time is right, he’ll sic the Muslims on us here, like in the ME. I’m beginning to wonder about all those thousands of illegals crossing over the border and all those agencies (except border patrol) purchasing all that ammunition. Building a new army? Is this how Obama plans to take America down? Bring in illegals then arm them?
Let’s not forget the medical impacts of abortion, the two primary ones being (1) depression and (2) breast cancer,
The abortion-breast cancer link has been desperately hidden by the political left for years, because if confirmed conclusively it will doom abortion for all except the rabid leftists - e.g., those who abort to save the planet.
The bogus statistic in this debate that we hear all the time is that 1 in 3 women have had abortions. That’s the number you get if you divide the number of abortions by the number of child-bearing women. But since many women have multiple abortions the better number is probably 1 in 5.
In any event, there is a growing groundswell against abortion in America. Many believe it’s because so many women are traumatized by the fact that they have ended an innocent life. See my earlier point about depression above.
Notice his ambiguous use of the word “life”. For the woman, “life” means saving her from disruption or her day to day activities, while for the baby, “life” refers to the condition of being alive versus dead.
