WASHINGTON Increasingly, across this city, the I word is being heard.
Impeachment is being brought up by Republicans outraged over Barack Obamas usurpations of power and unilateral rewriting of laws. And Obama is taunting John Boehner and the GOP: So sue me.
Democrats are talking impeachment to rally a lethargic base to come out and vote this fall to prevent Republicans from taking control of the Senate, and with it the power to convict an impeached president.
Still, Republicans should drop the talk of impeachment.

I agree with Pat. When things hit critical mass which looks to be coming soon they need to just forcibly remove Oblunder and his entire entourage. Impeachment takes too long and will not lead to removal. It will just overshadow all of the scandals and misdeeds. They can always say they are invoking Article 25 and remove the guy because he is not competent to carry out his duties. That’s not far off the mark.
If the House/Senate refuse to do their Constitutional duty simply because it is not politically expedient, then they all need removed. Forcibly, if necessary. Further, if they will not bring forth AOI, then what makes you think a vote of no confidence would ever happen?
You either shutdown this criminal government and impeach this criminal President or you will be responsible for thousands of Americans life’s. There is no other choice now. Time to step up to the plate and prove you are a man Pat.
Getting more and more unlikely that they will even get 51, let alone 67.
even if they had 67 GOP Senators, the chance of impeachment will be nil.
At least half would not vote for it.
Something has to change now or say a slow good bye (less than 20 years) to the Republic.
20 years?
I doubt it lasts that long at this rate.
pat buchanan is a moron...
my take is if a criminal act has been committed, put the person on trial..
who gives a shit if the senate sides with him?
they will be on record backing a criminal enterprise...
i am waiting for someone, ANYONE, to do the right thing REGARDLESS OF THE POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES..
but alas, we have republicans in charge of the house, and they are spineless non principiled types of gutless human garbage...
now, remind me why i want a republican held senate too???
thank you for your excellant, reasoned response.
My biggest concern is the nearly half of our citizens who would rather have freebies, not work , thereby sticking with Obama rather than a free country with personal responsibility. that meme fuels my pessimism.
I respect your optimism and activism.
Truth be told, we were stupid enough to let blacks hold us hostage, threatening to burn this country to the ground if Obama wasn’t elected, then if he wasn’t reelected. So we’ve been in this mess because the 13% threatened to torch our country and we lack the guts to stand up to these threats.
The Dems know the threat will exist if the Republicans get the Senate, anyway. Do not think for a minute they won't vote early and often, and bring out the dead vote and the illegal vote in droves. Every fraud imaginable will be pulled on an unprecedented scale, even worse than the last election--and that was likely unimaginably massive.
With Holder in position, NOTHING will be done about it.
One thing the AOI might do that just isn't happening at the moment--and that's energize the Conservative vote. The perennially disgusted would have reason to believe at least, that some thing might get done in opposition to Obama instead of Kabuke and bidness as usual.
At present, there is absolutely no indication of effective resistance on the part of incumbent Republicans (with rare exception) and little reason overall to continue the farce.
Pat Buchanan makes a lot of sense in this piece. And who wants Biden for President?
