Is there any doubt that they’d prefer to lose to a Democrat than to a Conservative?
No doubt at all. From their perspective they do better as a minority. They can vote for clotures to shut conservatives down and then vote the other way claiming they are conservative.
I read yesterday Heritage is getting ready to start tracking cloture votes and include it as part of conservative ratings. That’s good news.
