In an article written for the Washington-based military website, War on the Rock, Robert Haddick, an American military analyst said that the People's Liberation Army Navy's YJ-12 anti-ship cruise missile is the most dangerous threat to the US Navy in the Western Pacific.
On page 40 of the Military and Security Developments Involving the Peoples Republic of China 2014 published by the Pentagon for congress indicated, this cruise missile provides an increased threat to naval assets, due to its long range and supersonic speeds. In addition, the YJ-12 is capable of being launched from PLA Navy Air Force's H-6 strategic bombers. Haddick said, therefore that the YJ-12 poses more of a risk that the DF-21 anti-ship ballistic missiles.
Citing a study conducted by the US Naval War College in 2011, Haddick said that the YJ-12 has a range of 400 kilometers. This makes the YJ-12 one of the world's longest-range anti-ship cruise missile. Haddick said that the range of the US Navy's Harpoon missile is only 124 kilometers. The extended range allows the PLA Navy's aircraft to launch the YJ-12 beyond the engagement range of the Navy's Aegis Combat System and the SM-2 surface-to-air missiles that protect US aircraft carrier strike groups.
The missile can be even more dangerous when they are deployed in Su-30 and J-11 fighters from the PLA Navy's two Flanker regiments. With a combat radius of 1,500 kilometers, the Chinese fighters can carry between two and four missiles into the battlefield. Haddick said that the US carrier strike group will have to defend itself against over a hundred supersonic ASCMs approaching from several directions at a wave-top height, allowing the group's close-in air defenses less than 45 seconds to respond.
I didn’t sell out America. Tell me what America is. What is it? A principle? What principle? Is the principle that “we are even better than a lot of places”? That’s it?
MURIKA! F-Yeah!
Tell me what “it” is.
Where are you from please?
(just curious)
Thanks.
From here. Vet. Patriot. Big fan of small Federal Government. A Jeffersonian classical liberal.
You agree with me. You just don’t know it. You wrote:
“America.
We are not some race. We are not some religion. We are a principle. And we are a nation, just as any other. Except we are even better than a lot of places.”
So what is this principle about which you speak? Tell me what it is.
Is the principle that all men are created equal? Is the principle a small federal government that is beholden to the people and to the small list of enumerated powers given to the same federal government by the people? Is that the principle?
What principle are you referring to?
Thanks for your service.
Actually I wasn’t in the service, so I commend you for that. I was overseas for several years however, and learned to appreciate America quite a bit, by not being here.
Not sure I understand your attitude is all.
America is a special place. As Americans we have a responsibility to keep it strong, and I don’t sense that in part, in your former posts.
We need to keep America strong.
That means we as Americans, need to advocate for American companies to hire people right here at home.
We import a whole huge ... boatload of stuff from Communist China.
Our own companies, are building up the world’s largest communist nation, very rapidly.
We need to support American jobs.
That is all I am saying. Support American jobs.
We need to grow America.
All of us.
Look you can feel good about America, advocate for America, wave Old Glory if you want. It will not change the fact that The People, and their government see Corporations and wealthy people as objects to loot. As long as that is the case the inexorable result will be corporations and wealthy individuals will find other ways of doing business. They will move overseas. They will figure out other ways of doing business. The USA has absolutely no inherent right to wealth and productivity.
These things must be earned through competition in an international market. but instead “we” loot corporations and individuals. So they go elsewhere. No amount of flag waving will change that.
I don’t know.
When I go in any store, a majority of the things to buy, were made in the Peoples Republic of China.
China is (rapidly) becoming stronger. Their population is four or five times our own.
China is becoming wealthy quickly. Quite quickly. For an entire generation we have been basically staying steady, while China has been rapidly growing.
Now America and China are roughly equivalent.
The problem is, our trade is wildly unbalanced, so our countries will not remain equivalent.
China will take the lead.
China is closed. China very completely, maintains control in China. Including in businesses.
I am just saying that our own companies, are selling out our own interests.
American companies are selling out, America! This is infuriating. Our own companies, are building much of the stuff they sell right here at home ... in the Peoples Republic of China.
Bring back jobs, and production, to America.
Bow are you going to bring jobs and production back here. Hong Kong is a vastly better and freer place to do business.
The only reason that countries and governments are formed is to provide mutual protection. Protection from outside forces and to enforce contracts. The bottom line is that if a farmer plants crops in the spring he can have a reasonable expectation of taking those crops to a stable market. Without the crops being stolen or destroyed by his neighbors or outside invaders. That’s it at the most basic level.
Here, now, the farmers product is looted by his neighbors. So why put in the crops?
The next war will have thousands of missiles being fired at once to overwhelm any targets. Followed by even more missiles on any remaining targets.
Only then can a navy move into range with aircraft.
No, your mistaken. I am a native Texan. We are a right to work state. We ARE the leader in economic output.
Buy American!
A Chinese slave laborer can’t hold a candle to the productivity of an all American robot.
Don’t look now tex but there is a gazillion Mexicans streaming across your southern border by design from DC.
I can’t get a flat screen tv or smart phone that is currently made here. We would need to completely restructure our national priorities which neither parties seem to be interested(for vastly different reasons). A WW 2 type of emergency would be required to set us back on track as a manufacturing giant. Even 9/11 didn’t do it.
Not saying we shouldn’t ...just saying it’s not currently on a front burner.
