The great organizing principle of 21st-century American life is that everything should be fiendishly complicated. If, say, an Italian wishes to take a leak, he strolls six feet across the corridor to the bathroom and unzips. To achieve the same end in America, a Keystone pipeline-long catheter has to be inserted snaking from his underwear out the front door, down the road to his employer's human resources department, on to the chief executive at head office, across town to the micturition management services company, over to the bodily fluids evacuation insurance provider, down the railroad track to the federal bureaucracy in Washington, before winding its way back to his place and the bathroom six feet from where he's sitting. Steyn ping.
True.
Oh, the horrible right-wing criminals! Seriously, these dopes really believe because one business will not provide abortifacients, dopey liberal women will be a loss as to how to kill their unborn child.
The Daily Current (a satire site that purports to be a newspaper) put up a piece about Hobby Lobby stoning a gay employee (in the parking lot). Moronic left wingers went absolutely nuts! I was disappointed that particular hoax didn’t show up on my feed over that Facebook.
I like Mark Steyn but he should learn that Italian red tape is as bad as French red tape which makes American red tape look pathetic. Not that we aren’t getting up there in major red tape. And, in my husband’s Italy (Sicily, in particular) you have to pay off the Mafia or get your car bashed in.
If Steyn is correct, the Hobby Lobby decision means squat. Instead of them paying for the things they objected to directly, the insurance company will pay them, and simply add it to what Hobby Lobby pays them, as a cost of doing business.
So Hobby Lobby is still paying for it, the money just goes through another set of hands before it pays for them.
