Unless these MRAP’s come with a maintenance contract these agencies are screwed. The MRAP is a maintenance intensive vehicle with zero off the shelf parts. I worked on BAE Systems RG-33 MRAP and JLTV programs as a Field Service Rep. These agencies are in for a teal treat maintenance wise
I’ve got two questions I’m hoping you have some general answer for, I’m just looking for some kind of rough guess.
If the vehicle is not intended to be used except for a freak event where an armored vehicle is the only thing that could approach a location to rescue someone, or to approach a barricaded sniper, could the vehicle be kept parked in a garage and kept workable for very little cost, for instance start it once a year, maintain the batteries and tires without any rough use, or mileage?
Also, what is the scrap value, could a sheriff pay $2500.00 for something that scraps out at a profit?
