Multiple illegalities coming to light in the IRS scandal provide a composite sketch of why government is America's oldest, biggest and most pervasive lawbreaker -- with no close second. And, it's getting worse.
Government bureaucrats have become America's caste of untouchables. Their arrogance was displayed by IRS Commissioner John Koskinen in hearings before the House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform.
Koskinen refused to apologize for lost -- or destroyed -- emails of Lois Lerner and other IRS officials linked to the political targeting of conservatives, and claimed no criminal acts were committed at the IRS.
Too many government bureaucrats believe that they are not merely above the law, but that they are the law. They are smug because they are beyond the reach of real consequences.
Everywhere, bureaucrats contemptuous of the governed and the rule of law found their new hero in Koskinen, a Yale-educated millionaire lawyer with decades of government experience willing to tell Congress to stuff it.
Victims of bureaucratic indifference and bullying right down to their departments of motor vehicles, however, cringed at Koskinens defiant and brazen display.
The IRS scandal highlights how bureaucrats violate constitutional and statutory restrictions. The problem has risen to epidemic proportions at the federal level, and has even filtered into state and local bureaucracies....

Term limits for government bureaucrats.
No government unions.
What’s Legal............ (( IS ))...... What “we” say is legal..
Term limits for government bureaucrats.
No government unions.
That’s 2 good ideas for government reform.
The key is to crack the federal unions, these ensure that nobody is ever fired, no matter how egregious their conduct.
I’d love to see Koskinen perp-walked! And for that matter Trey Gowdy as President!
Civil disobedience.
As it should be. State judges also swear oaths to defend the constitution.
ABOLISH THE IRS
REPEAL THE 16th AMENDMENT
My reforms include hot tar, rope and lead.
Guess I’m out of touch...
here is the best answer: get about 50 Trey Gowdys and put them in the highest offices in the land, President, A G., all the cabinet members , leader of the house and the senate. etc. etc. thing would change overnight.
Post number 11 would work fine for me.
It is a conflict of interest and they will vote for whoever keeps their hand in the till and their boot on the neck of their enemies.
As I’ve written for years - “it’s the bureaucrats, stupid” .more than taxes, more than corruption per se we are being swallowed by nameless faceless unaccountable bureaucrats at every level of government.
Mostly the problem as I saw it was deadwood and people assigned to jobs they barely qualified for. The workflow and amount should have been streamlined for efficienty and fewer employees.
They would get the funds so fill slots to keep getting funds, make work kind of thing. Then there were some who did very critical serious work and I do not want to paint them all with the same brush.
I love it. They should all be afraid of tar pots and feathers. If they were, things would work a lot better.
Term limits aren’t the solution. Limits to the number of bureaucrats would be.
The system needs to be overwhelmed. Stress the system find the weak points legally make life miserable for as many fed officials / employees as you can. call them write them ask about programs argue your points with them tell them what you think of .gov and how they are sending America down the drain.
But don’t break any laws if that is possible.
